Thigh High Cotton Socks

Hi, I find the really long socks or thigh high stocking made of cotton to be very popular in south and central america, why isn't america into them as well? The Alicia Silversone style in "clueless" was popular among teenagers, but has it died? I remember the style going on up to late 90's, but now I hardly ever see anyone wearing that style. I live in Cali, maybe the style still goes on in another states... just a curious question.

I think Barbie still wears those.

I go to a catholic highschool, and alot of the girls dress up their uniform or try to alter it in a way to make it look a little cuter. I for one am known for being a trendsetter in some ways, and one trend I started was the wearing of band pins on my kilt instead of the enormous pin. Also i like to wear leggings instead of tights sometimes. My question is, would thigh high socks look good? I just bought a pair of cotton black ones today & their super-comfy but im not too sure if it would work with my uni.
heres the outfit i would wear them with:
-white short sleeve blouse
-navy sweatervest
-navy/grey plaid kilt
-black flats

any suggestions? ( :
i could also wear a navy golf shirt (longsleeve)
and we have a navy jumper too (minidress)

Do you find your feet smell more wearing nylons such has knee highs or pantyhose or thigh highs or nylon stockings than when you're wearing either cotton socks or no hosiery at all?

hmm, yeah nylons (knee highs or those anklet things) make my feet smell, cotton socks dont (cos my feet don't normally smell!), but i do find that if i'm wearing closed in shoes, cotton is better than anything synthetic, cos synthetic stuff tends to make my feet sweat more & get abnormally smelly. I'm sure im not the only one this happens to! ;-)
