I want decent Quality (not necessarily branded - don't need Nike or Wilson's etc) sports socks (for Badminton, running etc), I think 100% cotton are best (?) so I would problem like to hear answers which are 100% cotton (so nothing cheap from Sports Direct, Sports World).
Thanks
I'm up for buying 3 pairs maybe a few more.

Midweight padding in heel and ball protects the foot from shear and impact forces
Wash and dry inside out (to fluff up the pads) using liquid fabric softener after each use (to lubricate the fibers for longer life). Liquid fabric softeners critical to receive full benefit of the product design
Custom toe area design; smaller heel pocket for added comfort and improved fit for a woman's smaller heel
I am looking for really thick cotton socks. Like 2-3 times the regular thickness and they need to be cotton, elastic on top is fine, but not wool or polyester material in the foot. Any style or brand is fine. Whenever I go sock shopping they are all thin, or just have a little extra cushion on the sole with a thin top. Does anyone know where I can find a great thick sock? The brand, type, or what to look for?
Thank you.
(and yeah, maybe I'm a lil' bit anal, but I love socks and shoes.)
I use thick socks too. I buy the white Columbia brand socks at Marshalls. If these are not thick enough for you, go to Sports Authority, Sports Chalet or Rei sporting goods and look for those really thick winter socks. They carry all kinds.

I bought some from M&S and BHS and by the time they've stopped leaving bits of black cotton everywhere, they've got holes in them!
I'm wearing some from M&S and they're fine on my carpet! You must be heavy footed or have sticky carpet!!!
My husband works outside & needs warm (thicker) socks. He doesn't like synthetic materials b/c they make his feet sweat.
I'd like to purchase 100% cotton socks for him (online), and preferably made in USA and sold through someone here in the States.
TIA for any help!
For a made in the USA 100% organic cotton sock try rawganique.com. Keep in mind there really isn't a 100% cotton sock because without elastic/lycra, the sock would not stay up. However for a warm and thick sock I would highly recommend a wool sock.
Wool keeps the sweat and moisture away from the foot and just a little more info on 100% Cotton, cotton socks fail the blister test...
A study at the University of Missouri-Columbia of athletic socks found "... that 100 percent cotton socks were usually the worst especially when a person started to sweat," said Robert Mooney, MU biological engineering student in a press release.
Hope that's all helpful!

Leafing through the pages of the Lillian Vernon catalog is to recall the interminable days that led to Christmas when I was in high school.
We weren’t children anymore so Christmas no longer meant the anticipation of some much-wanted toy. The holiday meant a break in a rigorous school year that would resume with a vengeance in less than two weeks.
In a mist of hormones and hair tonic, we boys stuck our legs in wool trousers before pulling on wool sweaters and jamming feet into wool socks to “go out.”
Several megatons of static electricity helped prevent unwanted pregnancies. Even dancing required grounding with heavy copper wire or thick, rubber-soled shoes.
Cold musings
Oy. The botom fell out of the thermometer the other night. I believe it was around -5 that morning with not much improvement forecast through the day. Those of you in the warmer climates will shudder at the thought, coming from a place where 50 degrees is considered ‘cold’ and a half inch of snow shuts down the roads. Honestly, once you get below five degrees or so, it pretty much feels the same.
Cold weather like this means two things to me: time to defrost the freezer (since I can simply set the contents outside while the freezer defrosts) and time to test cold weather gear.
Over the years I’ve found, through trial and error, things that work for me. All that stuff you hear about wool being great for cold weather, continues to insulate when wet, etc, etc, etc? Mostly true. Wool is some great stuff and the sheep deserve a round of applause. The truly fabulous thing about wool is that it was the material of choice for most of the worlds military forces when it came to cold weather. You can pick up a surplus catalog like Sportsmans Guide HQ (not the regular Sportsmans Guide, mind you) and find all sorts of wool pants, wool shirts, wool coats, wool gloves and wool hats at ridiculously low prices…and they work very well for keeping you warm. A friend of mine gave me a pair of surplus military wool pants that didn’t fit him anymore and they were warm, warm, warm. Wore them hunting this year and they performed wonderfully.

For the layers that lie closest to the skin, including socks, avoid cotton; instead, choose merino wool or synthetics like polyester. Cotton traps moisture
