Fur (thread) started coming out in good quality Cotton Socks after one washing in the washing machine.?

(1) How many of you have faced this problem? Any solution?

(2) Is it a manufacturing defect or problem is with the washing? I've been using the same brand socks since 2 years without any problem. And in fact with a longer life when compared with the other brands I used earlier. This is the first time I face this problem.

If you've only washed them once, return them to the store, they have a defect. I never put up with defective things, the store will allow you to replace it. They also get you fill out paper work on the product, that helps the company keep top quality in the store.

Does anyone know of a good wholesaler for cotton knee socks or over the knee socks?

adidas and puma, also wet seal, hot topic, Nike,

my favorites are adidas, I love knee high sock, i wear them alot, they are such a fashon statement!

For hiking, do I need to buy special socks or are cotton socks fine?

I heard that synethetic material socks are better - or are cotton socks good enough?
What about 2 cotton socks (on each foot) to offset any blistering?

Cotton is not preffered. Cotton gets wet from sweat and rubs giving blisters. You are better off with hiking socks that are designed to wick away moisture.

However if you are on doing recreational hiking here and there regular socks are ok.

Can I dye white cotton socks to look black?

The black socks sold in stores aren't good for my feet, since they're usually made of polyester which ends up making my feet sweaty. Can I dye my white cotton socks with something to make them look black? Does anyone have experience doing this?

At Walmart they sell black gym socks which are cotton and not expensive at all. They may have black gym socks at a sporting good store too but a little more pricey. I wear black gym socks for work and they look like dress socks. Dying is such a hassle but it can be done. Use Rit dye. They may run when you sweat though.

If you dye I'll never speak to you again! heh-heh

Have a great day!!!

Why shouldn't you wear cotton socks while running?

I run cross country. I went to a running store and they said that non-cotton socks should be worn while running. They didn't go into the reason why. Will I run better if I wear non-cotton socks/no socks?

If in really warm weather, you can sweat a bunch and cotton socks can possibly cause blisters (mainly if socks are lose). I've usually 95% train in cotton socks and will run races in the dri-fit light ones. Not wearing socks may cause blisters, but you may can get away with it. Go with some low cut dri-fit socks is what I'd recommend. Good Luck

12 Gifts of Christmas for Your Favorite Outdoor Women and Children

This week's snow has finally put me in the holiday spirit and looking at the calendar it's less than two short weeks until Christmas. If you put off your shopping or are looking for creative ideas for the outdoor woman or child in your life - I'll be posting two ideas a day up until Dec. 24th!

With apologies to Frederic Austin, composer of The Twelve Days of Christmas, here's my Christmas list.....

If you family is anything like mine - socks are always under the tree. As adults we always put on performance socks for outdoor activities, but think nothing of sending our kids out with cotton socks in their snow boots. And unlike most

Cotton Socks: You know, sometimes therapy makes me feel good.

So I had another appointment today with Dr. K. I've seen her four? times now, and will see her again next week. I think I like her. She can be a little kooky, but you know what? I really appreciate the global view she takes of things and I really, really appreciate the way she took the time to write a very nice letter to Dr. B (with my permission) stating that I am, indeed, seeing her as Dr. B requested and am, in fact, working within a framework strategy and then outlining the framework and strategies and inviting Dr. B to call her with any questions, concerns or comments. Anyway, we've spent some time talking about my relationship with DH and about co-dependency. Which makes it sound like...
