Where can I buy black cotton sports socks (slightly thicker than normal socks)... THAT DON'T RUIN THE CARPET?

I bought some from M&S and BHS and by the time they've stopped leaving bits of black cotton everywhere, they've got holes in them!

I'm wearing some from M&S and they're fine on my carpet! You must be heavy footed or have sticky carpet!!!

Cotton Sport Socks for Sale

Grab yourself a great business opportunit, for some high quality products. Each both Contain between 40 to 50 packets of different style sport ...

Where in the UK can I get the cheapest decent (thick) white cotton socks from? (Above the ankle) I'm a size 12?

I want decent Quality (not necessarily branded - don't need Nike or Wilson's etc) sports socks (for Badminton, running etc), I think 100% cotton are best (?) so I would problem like to hear answers which are 100% cotton (so nothing cheap from Sports Direct, Sports World).

Thanks

I'm up for buying 3 pairs maybe a few more.

Are most sports socks mostly cotton?

I am just wondering are most athletic/sports socks found in department stores such as Walmart, Roses, Target, or Kmart made of mostly cotton? I've never wondered about this until now.
Yes but JAN, no socks are completely 100% cotton. The sport ones I usually buy are 75 -80% cotton. Is that enough?

No they are not all made of cotton. You should read the package and make sure you are getting 100% cotton socks. They are much better for your feet.

Sports Socks (cotton) sticking to your feet during Winter.........?

One of my friends who used Sports Socks in a hill area during winter described this experience. When he went out for a walk it was too cold. He returned to his cottage after an hour or so. After entering his cottage first he removed his shoes. Then when he wanted to change his socks by removing the socks which he was wearing, he was unable to, since the socks was sticking to his feet strongly, making it difficult for him to remove. Finally he removed it by cut opening the socks. Do you have a similar experience? Can you please explain why it is so?

Cotton absorbs moisture, as opposed to wicking it away and letting it evaporate. But it is also warm. In the winter, what this means is that, initially, cotton socks will keep your feet TOO warm, causing your feet to sweat. In cold temps, damp feet get even colder. The moisture can even partially freeze, causing your socks to stick. And, of course, your feet will be freezing, too.

The best way to avoid this is to stay away from cotton. Wool is much better, and a wool blended with synthetic fabric is best. It will keep your feet warm, but not smother them to the point of sweating, and any moisture is quickly wicked away and evaporated. Hiking socks are ideal, as almost all of them are a wool/synthetic blend, and are intended for things like hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing in cold temps.

  • White Tabi Sport Socks – 4 pack | Cheap Kids Toys

I love these socks. I have searched for tabi socks in the US for 30 yrs. I expected to find an option to select American shoe sizes, for the lovely cotton socks Japanese women wear on their feet under traditional kimonos and I hope they do exist in an American Size 7.

The sports socks rock… they’re just a bit larger than I expected, which is to be expected since we have larger feet than our Asian sisters…there is a left and right foot clearly indicated which is kinda cool I took one pair, cut off all but the big toe, and slathered my feet with creams to soften sports calluses leaving the other four toes free to wiggle comfortably under the sheets.

SO: here’s hoping I haven’t missed the traditional cotton tabi made to size, but I will certainly order these sports socks again…just to wear flip-flops in the winter with a sock that works is pretty special.
