I came to know about this recently from a reputed Socks Manufacturer who has 20 years experience. He says Machine wash reduces the life of elastic of the Socks.
I'm sure he's right and it does - but I really, truly, envy anyone who actually has the time to handwash socks!!! It's that age old debate, time versus money, plus the eternal question of what constitutes quality of life.....

Definately cotton, they keep your feet breathing and help your feet from smelling all sweaty (the nylon helps trap all that stuff inside.)
i bought several nylon ankle socks, but the sales woman said they are not breathable, and cotton socks are? but why is nylon so expensive ? i got 2 pairs for 9.99 and 2 cotton for 4.99? both are black socks and pattern on the toes and heels. reason i asking is because my daughter is such a fashionable girl and even the socks have to be good quality and nice looking ty.

I am tired of running attire that is actually revamped gym gear and old Duofold wool long underwear that doesn't "breathe" but instead "suffocates."
The winter running season, one of falling temperatures and few hours of daylight, should not mean hibernation nor the conquest of your family's Nintendo Wii. If you want to battle winter blues, improve your energy level and leave room between your waistband and navel for summer bouts in swimsuits and trunks, then keep running. So let us get dressed, or rather "layered," shall we?

I do not have time to be interesting. I’ve seen several things lately that I want to read and possibly pontificate on but sewing and Christmas shopping and wrapping keep calling me. (And being disconnected all morning made it sort of difficult to catch up on any online reading even if I had wanted to take the time.) But one can always find time to rant and there are a couple of things I need to rant about.
I am a bit stressed about boxes right now. I need about half a dozen boxes of one particular size and the only gift boxes I’ve been able to find are multi-size packs that contain two of the size I need and eight of various sizes that I do not need, and single boxes or two-packs that are the wrong size. I know I could use bags but darn it I want boxes and the size I need is (or used to be) a very common size that you could get in single or two-packs.
