I want to sew a waistband (not stretchy fabric, cotton) onto a full circle skirt (also cotton) with an invisible zipper on the side.
I'm uncertain of how to connect the waistband to the circle skirt, and then invisible zip, without letting the seams show and overstitching everything so it looks messy.
Can someone advise me how to achieve this?
You have to sew the zipper into the seam of the skirt before attaching the waistband, leaving an allowance at the top so the top of the zipper falls below the seam where you attach the waistband.
Here's the link to instructions, with pictures, showing how to sew on the waistband, after you've sewin in the zipper:

Look where it says "Attaching waistband to skirt or pants".

Silly questions, not truly important in the grand scheme of things... but nonetheless...
I have to wonderful skirts that I love :)
one is A line knee length linen, the other is a full below the knee skirt 100% cotton (a bit hippie-esqe)
The problem: I iron them and the second I sit down they get extremely wrinkled and look sloppy? any advice for keeping them wrinkle free (besides NOT sitting all day-come on folks).
Thanks for the help!
fyi. the cotton skirt is white.. don't know if that makes a difference
you know? ....that is how that kind of fabric is.
it is meant to be a casual, carefree, summer kind of look...and the wrinkles are unavoidable, really.
i know what you mean though...i hate having wrinkly clothes!
i have a couple pairs of white linen/cotton pants and it is the worst when you have to sit in the car and drive, lol!
anyways.... there is nothing you can do to prevent wrinkles in that fabric. ...but, everyone knows that that happens with linen!
...try not to worry about it!

Disclaimer: I'm not very fashion literate, so forgive me if this is a dumb question.
I have a black and white floral print skirt. There's about a 50/50 mix of black and white in the skirt. It's a full skirt, almost a circle skirt, and comes just below my knees. The skirt is cotton (I think). It's feels kind of crisp.
Do I have to wear a black or a white top with this skirt? Or can I wear a different color? Do I have to stick with a crisp material? I want to dress the skirt up as much as I can.
You can wear black or white tops with the skirt, but, in my opinion, that's a bit boring. Black and white bottoms look great with skirts in bright colors. Jewel tones look great, red, pink, blue, etc. You can wear almost any color top with a black and white skirt, though you should avoid other neutral colors (i.e. navy, beige, brown, etc.)
