One of my FAVORITE skirts is made of that super thin cotton that they make into peasant style tops and skirts.
It got a rip the other day. The problem is that the fabric is SUPER thin. I have NO scraps of the fabric to work with...I bought the skirt, so no scraps.
Anyone got any tips on how to fix the rip to make it as invisible as possible?
You can get these iron on patches that are thin and solid colors. You turn the skirt inside out, cut a piece of iron on patch a bit larger than the rip, lay the skirt on the ironing board, carefully meeting up the torn parts. Then, place the iron on patch, glue side down onto the tear and heat with the iron until it adheres to the fabric well.
It is a good idea to trim the patch with rounded corners, too, so the edges don't catch on things and pull the patch off at the corners.
