Where can I get a knitting pattern for a girl's nightgown?
ir_whole

I want to knit my 6yo daughter some light cotton nightgowns for spring but I can't find any patterns. I'm looking for a simple pattern with a plain bodice and a full/swing skirt. I'd like to add my own embellishments like lace edging on the shoulder straps. But I need a plain pattern to start with. Thanks!

That's a lot of knitting, but here is a link. Good luck.

I hate dressing up and not used to it for work.?

I am currently unemployed but the next job I get is likely to be in a place where I have to wear business casual. Probably no jeans, etc. This is honestly the bulk of my wardrobe. Beach casual, sweats, loungewear, and the like. Lots of cotton teeshirts.

Aside from this really casual stuff, I have a couple of the sweaters that tie at the top and spread open with sleeves, not a cape. One red, one black. I have a knee length stretchy shiny knit skirt. I have a black stretchy shirt and aqua blue tank. I have ONE pair of pointy toe dress shoes. I have a pair of nice black slacks. And I do have the proper lingerie to go with these. Good bras, slips, etc.

Can you think of any really basic and essential pieces that would work to expand these into more outfits? Concerned about comfort and confidence, just a minimal stretch from my comfort zone. Low upkeep garments too. Also not able to spend much.

OH body type. I am plus size with a flat butt, nice legs and busty.

Thanks for helping
Wow, strawberry big mac has made a harsh comment.

The reasons I am unemployed, thank you...is because my mother died in December and I have taken some time to take care of her affairs and get myself together before I go back into a job.

Before that, for THREE years (triple the usual length of stay) I worked at a wilderness camp helping at risk teens get their lives together. That coincidentally is why...I don't have a professional wardrobe.

I decided to quit my job because I am going through a lot, and I knew it wasn't fair to my kids at work to not give them 100%...plus after three years of camping and hiking and sleeping in the rain, I am ready for some 9-5 less personal involvement way of making a living.

Does anyone else have a wisecrack to share?

thanks for the (other) answers so far!

I do NOT dress like a homeless teenager??

I was in the same boat 2 years ago. the job I had before this one I couldn't dress too nice since I was liable to be elbow deep in pastery at any moment. I worked as a restaraunt book keeper but I was also the resident baker, prep cook, ect.

Basics for business casual for busty plus size girl. Hey that's me...

Skirts..one black either pencil or A line to the knee at least one other of another color or patterned but taylored not bohemian
Slacks.. one black, one brown, one grey all taylored and wider legs worn with ballet flats, boots or heels.
Blouses/sweaters.. since you have a nice chest, show it off Deep V's are the best for this. If you are curvy, taylored button up shirts are great.
Shoes.. Wear nice dress shoes not clunky chunky boats like birkenstocks or things like that. I love my birks but I only wear them on casual fridays with jeans.

As for ways not to spend a lot of money... I shop at Lane Bryant or Torrid when I can afford it. I also shop at Gabriel Brother's (They carry Lane Bryant stuff sometimes) Ebay is my best friend and don't be too proud to shop at Goodwill and places like that, especially the ones in richer neighborhoods. You have to dig but you can sometimes find some good things.

Good Luck with the job hunt. Best advise I ever got about dressing for a job interview was dress for the job you want not necessarily the one you are applying for. Wear a really nice outfit for the interview but don't go overboard.

Where can i buy "western" fabric like denim, corduroy in Bangalore?
ir_modeled

Hi everyone, I want to make a skirt+top outfit with fabric like denim, maybe soft corduroy, knitted polo-type material or mixed fabric like cotton/polyester- depending what i can find! Any idea of shops in Bangalore selling these?
I tried several shops on Commercial St but all they seem to have is silk and salwar/kurtas material like chiffon and rather stiff cotton...
Thanks in advance!

You can try out in central areas of Bangalore like MG Road, Brigade Road, Cunningham Road and Residency Road. Hope you find something here.

black hi waisted cotton skirt and red tank top with black flats.

tell me which ones on which day 1st 2nd or 3rd.
and if you dont like one tell me how i can fix it.
thanks so much.
I blowww at this high school shittt.

B is cute....but it may be a little risky. Maybe find a mini dress to go with it instead. The flip flops are also verrry cute, vans would look good too. But I also think that ballet flats would look good too with leggings. I would wear it the second day.

A is cute too...I would wear it on the first day.

C...hmmm. That could be sort of difficult to pull off. If you want to pull off the whole high waist pencil skirt thing...I would try to punk it up/ modernize it. Maybe take a striped t-shirt... tuck it in to the skirt. Pull it all off with a tight studded/hardware belt.

I think you got a goood start. Also keep in mind, that indie style is really big this season.

  • A little advice from Isaac. . .

Mizrahi shared his holiday gift list.

"For my mother -- coloured jeans. They fit really well and I know how cute she looks in them." What colour? "Goldenrod. Orange. Cobalt. . . . I'm just going to get her all the colours."

For his sister: "Sweaters." Rugby striped crewnecks in bright colours and a dot-print hoody in supersoft double-knit cotton.

For his friends: "Accessories!" The From Isaac with Love double frame purse is a favourite. "In red, green or gold . . . they snap up an outfit" and make it special for the holidays.

How to sparkle this holiday season?

The key to looking great in the evening is to look original, Mizrahi writes in his book How To Have Style (Gotham Books, $33), released last year.
