Where can I find a long black skirt?
aryan nahata

For a long time I've been looking for a long cotton black skirt that was heavy so it has weight and you can't see through it, and is kind of flowing (like the ones where if you spin in a circle it will fly up).

I found exactly what I was looking for on www.pyramidcollections.com but they are no longer carrying it. It was called the Court and Country Skirt...I really need one like it. I've checked Marshalls and Macy's but I'm at a loss as to where it could be found. I know that the Boho/gypsy skirts were "in" at one point but I've never paid it much mind until now. Anyone got any ideas?

Look At Thrift Stores, or Goodwill.

I lost my skirt - have you ever lost yours?

Reminded me of when I wore a button up skirt in my gypsy phase. It was winter and I wore this heavy cotton skirt with a lovely gypsy/cancan type petticoat. I always liked it as the frilly hem used to show where the skirt slit at the hem. During a day out in Bristol, two of my friends got silly and pulled my skirt apart to pop the buttons. It came right off exposing my petticoat and the buttons fley off the skirt as the pulled it. I was cross/humiliated and fussed about them ruining my skirt so one of them snatched it back and threw it in the river. We watched it drift away never to be seen again.
They said they'd replace it but made me walk through half the shops in my petticoat before they found one!
Anyone else ever lost their skirt in public?
I'm 22 and my friends were generous enough to take loads of pictures. Want any?

Sort of. One rather cool summer day I wore a thin cotton skirt and t-shirt. The skirt was peach colored and I wore a very full, lacy satin pink pettislip under it, along with lacy white nylon panties. My skirt had a clasp as well as a zipper in the back. I noticed that morning that the zipper was hard to close - it kept sticking. I managed to close it and fasten the clasp, but early that afternoon I felt my skirt loosen and looked to see that the clasp had become undone. It was broken and I made the mistake of pulling down the zipper to get a better look. The zipper stuck and I simply could not bring it back up to close the waist of the skirt around me. My girlfriend and I went looking for a safety pin while I used one hand to keep my skirt up. I attempted to take hold of a sack in my other hand, lost my balance, and down went my skirt while I was standing there on the street. I am grateful I always wear slips, but I was mortified for the 45 seconds it took for me to gather and step back into my skirt! I suppose I could have pretended that my frilly slip is a new style of skirt, but I'm too much a coward to try that!

Is this a good date outfit?
blossom gypsy skirt

I'm planning on wearing a knee length purple gypsy skirt that's volumous, and a fitted cotton "Journey" tee. With black converse. I was also planning on doing natural makeup but with a cat eye in blue eyeliner. And as for my hair, i'm just going to let it air-dry. It's a straight/wavy, thick texture. We're going to the movies and then eating later. Thanks so much!! Any suggestions or changes are welcome.

It is probably not something I would personally wear but that is not the important part. If you feel comfortable in it and thats something you want to wear then by all means you should! It sounds like something for a dinner/movie date. I guess if I would advise you on one change it would be to just wear some nice strappy flat sandals instead of the converse. Just my advice...no need to take it if you don't want too. I like the hair idea though!

Asymmetrical casual skirt (layered looking)?
Russian & Rājasthān vibe

Hello all,

Just need some advice. My husband bought me four skirts of different colors that I have been wanting for a long time, I got them for Mother's Day (they were on close-out for $3.75) so who could go wrong right? Anyways he got them for me at Target they run a little below the knee an are of a T-shirt or cotton type material, so they are very casual. They have asymetrical fabric giving it that "tattered" kinda the ragged sewn together look...almost gypsy-ish if you will.

My question is what top/s would work well with this kind of skirt considering how casual it looks and the fabric that it is? So what do ya think?

Any tips would be great--thanks and have a good one!!

Those skirts look great with something simple on top. If you're doing layering on the bottom, you need to make sure the top is minimal. I always wear those skirts with a sleeveless v-neck or with spaghetti straps.

You can also get away with wearing a plain white button-down shirt with no sleeves or slightly puffed sleeves.

Whatever you do, make sure the top is fitted.

Anything on this page would work:

Clothes shopping in Melbourne?
Dreaming of Vashti

So, I live in Melbourne, and I badly need to get some clothes for spring/summer, but I'm kinda sick of the generic teen shops like Supre, Cotton On, Valleygirl etc. Most of their clothes (mainly Supre) are kinda trashy imo (no offense) and I was only shopping there because it was cheap and everyone else was. My style is a mix of summery, bohemian clothes like printed maxi dresses, gypsy skirts, flowy tops etc. with light cardis, shorts, plain singlet tops and jeans.
Any suggestions on where to shop? I'm buying a lot of clothes (I literally have no clothes, I haven't bought anything in like 6+ months) so the prices would have to be cheap/reasonable, so no designer clothes (they're gorgeous, but so expensive). Should I go to somewhere like Highpoint/Chadstone or little streets and boutiques?

Thanks :]

Hi well if u go to Knox Shopping Centre I'm sure u will find what ur looking for they have what u are describing to a tee.OK

Chadstone would prob have same as they are the fashion capital of Melb LOL

Have u shopped at St Vinnies Op shops or Salvo shops or 2nd Hand shops dont worry they have what u want and very good quality &cheap also
