Cotton Bubble Skirt

i'm going to my boyfriend's little sister's first communion this weekend, so i need to look churchy and cute (first time meeting the fam!). i have a lightweight cotton bubble skirt that's cream colored. i know you're not supposed to wear white on the bottom half of your body before memorial day, but what about cream? i was planning on wearing a mint green top and possibly a black or brown cardigan with matching heels. thanks!

Those are stupid fashion rules. If it looks good, fits the occasion and the weather, and looks stylish it doesn't matter what day it is. Wear it! And good luck with his parents!

I'm trying to make a bubble dress and can't seem to figure out how they're typically made. When you look inside a bubble skirt, what do you see? Is the length of the fabric just extra long so that the edge is pulled up inside to the waist? Or is there some sort of elastic that goes around the bottom of the skirt that pulls it in to create that bubble shape?

Also, I'm making a dress with a stiffer cotton fabric to create a more volumous shape, if that helps at all.

I'm pretty sure it's just a piece of fabric folded under and sewn back up at the waist... sort of like a "U" shape. I'm not sure stiffer fabric would work, because you want it to be loose, swingy, and flowy.

the stockings are needed cause its still kinda cold here. and for the gray top it is a scoop neck. i cant decide between a plain gray shirt or one with like dots around the neck line in pastel colors that almost look like flowers.

so which shirt should i use, and what do you think of the outfit all together?

The grey top if your real cheerfull and prep go for the dotted one but i would say the grey one looks better answer my problem

Usually I just throw on whatever is moveable but still cute. However, this trip is different. I'm going with a group of kids my age overseas. So thats a half a day on a plane and the other half in airports and cars. I feel pressured to look good (i'm competative looks-wise i guess) because my crush is going to be with us too.

Please help:) I was thinking (okay don't smite me, i'm not that fashionable) A cute cotton little bubble skirt, leggings/tights, these cute sort of gladiator sandals i have, my hair loosely curled/wavy. What for a top and accessories?

well if ur 14, that sounds great. just throw on a top that is more close to the body since the bottom is fuller to balance out the proportions and a coat that is light but fits well to ur figure like a jean jacket. if ur older than 13-14 how ever, i suggest throwing on some jeans and a cute comfortable top that wont show too much boob if u so happen to fall asleep against the wall or someones shoulder that u know...pair with a sweater or jacket since the person next to u may have the air conditioner on high. and as for hair, ur hair will go limp on a flight that long...so if u do happen to curl it, find a travel size bottle that can pass security and get curl re-activator and pour some of that in...usually what u do is i pin curl in a really pretty cute way if u want loose waves and curls for the top 1/5 of ur head near ur face...that way when the flight is about to land, just take the pins out and u have perfectly styled and volumized hair the way u want it...if u don't want to pin curl, again just bring curl/wave re-activator and turn ur head upside down until its mostly dry to get ur volume back.
also bring flats instead of sandals. for one its more convenient if ur toes get cold or u need to hurry along, second it wont cut ur leg off so much as gladiators do with the ankle straps...if ur tall u can, if ur shorter than 5'8" go for flats...personally i think leggings are smart to wear in a plane since ur not always going to have ur legs closed when u sleep lets face it...i traveled in a skirt ablve the knee before, and because im tall sometimes i need to put my legs to the side...my bf had to keep waking me up cuz my bits were showing to the kid in the seets across up a row...if ya do go with out leggings, i advise u put ur coat between ur legs. and i know this might be wierd, but wear breathable cotton underwear lol...ur legs being closed and minimal circulation of air can really make things uncomfortable for u after a whole day on a plane.
