Cotton Anchor Skirt

I have a black skirted tetra and it has something coming out of its mouth. I have been told it could be anchor worm. It's not fuzzy so I don't think it's cotton mouth. Everything I have read about anchor worm says they attach to the body not the mouth. This is the third one that has had this and all have been in the mouth. I have tried fungal treatments, parasitic treatments and just recently treatment for anchor worms. Nothing has helped. I have read you have to physically remove anchor worms. Any ideas or help that could be offered would be appreciated thanks. By the way the other fish that were infected with this I flushed.

It sounds like it may well be Columnaris. Which would not be cured by anything you have used. It is a gram negative rod bacteria and only a few antibiotics will treat it. Columnaris when inside the mouth will look like little hairs coming out of the mouth. It manifests in so many different ways, but a common way is what you are describing. At least vaguely.

I can't find a photo of the type of columnaris infection I'm talking about unfortunately.

A combination of Marycyn, marycyn-2 and aquarium salt might cure them. Columnaris can be very tricky though. Antibacterial food can help as well.
