It's really nice and soft. Try on some organic tees that Sector 9 has made at your local surf or skateboard shop.

I'm trying to find a really soft, high thread count white organic cotton fabric to make a crib set (preferably not made in China).
None of the fabric stores I've visited have nice quality fabric, so I was hoping to find an online resource.
Here are a couple of sources; there are many others:

I saw Nature's Purest at Toys r us and it's soooo nice and soft and made of organic cotton but I just can't afford $250 for a crib set.
Most of the other sets i've touched weren't nearly as soft. Where can I get some nice, soft, combed cotton, if possible, crib sets??
Got a Burlington Coat Factory anywhere near? They carry the Carter's line and have a whole wall full of bedding. Its all sold seperately and not as a set, but is VERY inexpensive. The crib sheet is just cotton but the bumpers and blankets they have to choose from are the combed super soft cotton.

Made from a mix of certified organic cotton and natural hemp material
Truly multifunctional, use as: wash cloths; burp cloths; tuck at neck for an instant bib; excellent as travelling towels; use to clean up eating messes, drooling mouths, and almost anything else you can think of
I just bought a few organic cotton items and they're all very rough and scratchy to the touch. I got some bedsheets & napkins. The handkerchief is flannel and very soft and so is the tank top. But all woven cotton ended up really UGH! The napkin is rough on my raw lips it hurts. (My lips are chapped and peel so...)
What do I need to do without chemicals to make the cotton soft? (I can't use regular detergent, I have severe chemical sensitivities, it's awful!) --NO FABRIC SOFTENER, PLEASE-- Sorry for caps, that stuff makes me vomit, I kid you not, I can't be near that I might as well live with rought & scratchy.
What is enzyme wash? Do I just open a digestive enzymes capsule and add it to some water and launder like that? Will the enzymes "eat up" or digest the rough stuff?
Or will the cotton naturally soften after several washes? I use Dr. Bronner's soap to do my laundry due that I can't use even 7th Generation detergent is loaded with toxic chemicals, UGH!
Thanks for any suggestions! :0)
try using vinegar in the rinse water. and it will soften the more it's washed.
I bought organic cotton sheets and ugh! They are rough and scratchy, not soft at all. Same thing for organic cotton napkings, like sandpaper against my lips! :( I am very disappointed. I bought knits and a terry robe in organic cotton and they are the softest. But woven cotton is soooo unbearably rough and itchy against the skin. Does anyone know why that is?
Also can you please tell me how to get it to soften up? I have heard about enzyme wash but I don't know what that is or how to do it at home. Google was no help! :-/
Do you think if I buy digestive enzyme cellulase and put a few caps (how many??) in the wash it will 'eat up' the roughness, since cellulase digests fiber? Should I put any of my natural soap or just the cellulase?
PLEASE: Don't tell me fabric softener or dryer sheets, I have chemical allergies and can't use any of that commercial stuff and why I bought the organic cotton sheets in the 1st place, they were supposed to help me out. Thanks.
You've actually answered your own question. Woven cloth is not meant to provide "softness" compared to knits and terry "weaves". Linen weaves are meant to use minimal material, have less give and minimal stretch.
In terms of solving your dilemmna, the easiest thing to do is to use the sheets and napkins more often (i.e. break them in). Through use, the threads will get "ratty" and provide a softer feel. Between washes, regular use will "wear" the rough surfaces to smooth them out. Will never get to knit and terry softness, but it helps greatly. look at what stone-washing did for jeans - which focuses more on wearing than unraveling, but has components of both.
Good luck!

Your World: Healthy and Natural: Review of Aminals Huggable-Soft Dolls
The second thing that sets these aminals apart is that they are safer for our children. They are made from 100% organic cotton, inside and out, which I just love, love, love! Aminals Dolls say "Not only is organic farming healthier and safer for our farmers, our fieldworkers, and our communities, organic cotton is free from synthetic poisons that are absorbed into our bloodstream through skin contact. Products manufactured from certified organic ingredients are the safest for your kids." The last thing I love about Aminals are that they are designed with the intent to make a fully recyclable product that can disappear naturally, without contributing toxic chemicals that poison our soil, air,...
