Hi there, I've been looking for some stylish organic clothing, here are 2 websites I've found:
http://www.appareloftheearth.com/catalog /index.php
http://www.moralfervor.com/
I've also been told Wal-Mart carries organic clothing but I don't support Wal-Mart so that it out.
I'm looking to see if you know any other places I can get some green clothing.
I also am looking for solid reasons to convince my husband to try wearing organic clothing. I have my own list, I just want to hear your take on how I can convince him to just try it (guys, I could use your help especially!!)
There are a ton of websites that carry orgainic clothing. A little on the pricey side, but in the long run, worth it. You can find some of them advertised in the back of Veggie News, Yoga Journal, and Fit Yoga.
JC Penneys had some ladies night clothes that were organic. I bought 4 of them. They also sell bamboo blankets and sheets. I LOVE mine!
Places that sell Danskin (Walmart is one of them for those who still shop there)- that company has an organic line. I have several outfits from them.
For those of us who do sew, check out your fabric stores. Bamboo is on bolts, and hemp is too. It is pricey though.
Why do I choose orgainic?
I want to practice what I preach. I may not be able to buy everything at once, but when I am shopping for a new piece to replace a woren one, I choose organic material and am slowly rebuilding my wardrobe.
The clothing seems to last longer, be of better quality, and in clothing pieces that seem to be in a timeless style - so I am, in the long run, saving money.
I want to know what I put "on" my body is as important as what goes "in" my body. I do not want a bunch of man made chemicals in my clothing, leeching out every time I sweat, every time I wash, every time I move...
I want to be able to help support those who believe in the same things I do. The more people choose 'organic/natural', the better message we will send to those who make clothing (among other things).
Good luck convincing your Husband...it took me a couple years to do that with mine...once he started wearing the clothing, and could feel how much more superior it was (and better at natural breathing - thus, keeping him cooler), he was hooked.
Katie's First Solid Food - Organic Rice Cereal
My aunt's baby has skin rashes and becomes very irratible especially at night time. We changed all the baby's clothes to eithe 100% cotton or organic. We changed the detergent. All the baby's materials like blankets and bumpers and bed sheets are all either cotton or organic. We checked if he had a milk allergy and that doesn't seem to be the case.
Help!!! what could the baby's allergy be? The pediatrician took tests and the results are unknown. The baby is only on formula and has not yet started any type of cereal or solid foods. The pediatrician also perscibed rash cream and allergy medicine to be taken at night time but it doesn't help baby at all.
Please share asap!!!
the baby has been using the same shampoo, soaps, and wipes ever since he was born and no allergic reaction to any of those either.
Most formulas contain quite a lot of soy, milk, and corn. So I'm guessing that its probably one of those.
Alimentum Ready-To-Feed is corn-free.. so you could try that for a week and see if anything improves.
If not, then you could switch to something milk-free, or soy-free.. until you find the solution.
Allergy tests for babies are not very reliable.. so you're going to have to do a lot of trial and error.
As for detergents, it still could be the detergent even if you changed types.. you may want to try All Free & Clear.. many people with allergies have done very well with it. The only cases I know of that haven't done well with it, are people with a coconut allergy.
I'm highly suspicous that this may be a corn allergy, esp since the creams and allergy medicine aren't helping. Most creams and medications contain corn, so that may inactivate the helpfulness of the medication.
You might could try Cortizone ointment (cortizone in petroleum jelly) and see if that helps. Don't use much of it.. or regularly though as the steriod in it can damage the skin in repeated uses. But it would help you figure out what the problem might be.
