I wanted to emphasize that it's organic cotton that is sateeen and the worst thing is they're so very itchy! UGH!!!
I bought Coyuchi pillowcases, they are sateen organic cotton and they are so rough it's like sleeping on sandpaper. Oh and they were super expensive too, luxury item to improve my health condition that is the worst garbage ever! Cream colored: no chemicals, no bleach, no dyes, nothing!
The other organic cotton sheets are dyed low-impact and are SATEEN by Under the Canopy. These are the worst! Not only rough and scratchy like it's going to peel my skin off (I sleep unclad by lack of pj's) but the itchiness is truly unbearable.
WHAT CAUSES THIS, please? I have organic cotton knit clothes and they're super soft.
Oh and I tried vinegar and hot water to soften and it did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL! :-/
DOES ORGANIC COTTON HAVE SOME KIND OF TOXIC CHEMICAL (OIL?) NATURALLY?
Sorry for caps I don't have bold or yellow to highlight. Thanks.
Will non-sateen (...percale?) sheets be soft and non-itchy?
I never said percale was a fabric, smartmouth, I compared it to sateen, not cotton. Perhaps learn how to read?
Oh, man! That sounds awful! I highly doubt that cotton inherently has toxic qualities but I would assume that the lack of chemical usage on your sheets has affected the softness/sandpaper factor. I've never really had this problem so all I could suggest is washing them, or attempting to return them. Sorry.

The Many Fabrics of Bed Sheets
Recently I went out shopping for bedding, specifically for a sheet set for my queen size bed. It had been awhile since I last purchased bedding, and I came away from the stores with a head full of questions. I’m not sure what happened in the bedding industry from the last time I bought sheets to this present day. They have so many different types of sheets, and fabrics and thread counts that range from 120 to 1000! What is a person to do? Well, I didn’t buy any today. I thought I’ve got to wrap my mind around the terms they are using and I came home and did some research. I wanted to be prepared to know which fabrics are best for bed sheets.
When I started researching I found so many different kinds of fabric I put them in alphabetical order. And since I spent so much time on this I thought others might like to use my list. This is what I came up with:
