Organic cloth diaper choices help needed please!?

I would so much appreciate help of experts moms on what are some of the best (value/cost wise) Organic cloth diaper choices! As a complete profane in this (I never used them before but Seventh Generation that we are using now are VERY pricy!), I need help in :
1. Best brands suggestion? Reasonable price? I found from 9.99 to 26 dollars ( I have been looking at ecomall http://www.ecomall.com/biz/baby.htm) they have Hundreds of choices!
2. Number of diapers to start with
3. Number of doublers (also only Organic please) - are bamboo better than cotton or hemp/cotton?
4. Number of Organic wool covers - do I need one or two or more? IS wool the only natural choice of natural cover? what is the realistical price to pay ? So far I found they are from 27 to 40 dollars?
5. Are one size better than fixed size?
Thank you so very much!!!!!

1. I like the Organic BumGenius on cottonbabies.com. They run for about 20 dollars.
2. I would say 24-36
3. I use two doublers per cloth diaper. I have heard great things about hemp. I use cotton, but it's pretty excellent for me.
4. With BumGenius 3.0 one size diapers, covers are not needed at all. I would say 30 dollars is average for woll covers.
5. For me, one size are great. They fit my daughter from 7 pounds , and will until 35 pounds. But as a newborn, they were a bit too big.

what wool diaper covers & stuffings are slim enough to fit under reg. daytime clothes w/out blowout?

i'm new to cloth diapering and considering getting some imse vimse or baby beehinds wool wrap covers (because i dont' want to use PUL or anything with poly content on my wee love). i wondered about little beetle wool wraps too? i like the bummis super brite covers taht i have, but want to quit using them ASAP - - however - - the gussets work GREAT! which is why i started looking for slim wool covers with gussets. i have a couple knitted wool shorties & one longies (thanks to her grammas), but no wayyyy can i put clothes over them :(

also - what slim style fitted diapers (or prefolds, or....??) do you use that work best under the trim wool wraps that still did a good daytime job (i cna use the knitted woolies at night)? i'm looking for unbleached, untreated or organic cottons, hemp or bamboo primarily. no synthetics though.

thank you :)

We have Muttaquin Baby shape fitted diapers (they look super tiny, but stretch to fit) and we use Sugar Peas Wool Flannel covers over with no problems. All our 15 month old baby's pants fit over that combination. She wears a medium long sized diaper and a medium sized cover.

We use this wool cover for nights too. The Babyshape diaper is not quite absorbent enough for nights all the time though. Sometimes they are really, really soaked in the morning. But we have never had a leak. Goodmama fitted diapers work very well at night, but they are bulkier than the Babyshapes.

If you need a wool cover with gussets take a look at the Sckoon wool covers. I have one and it works well, but I find that it is much bulker, I think because of the gussets ... But it can be machine washed and I didn't ever have to lanolize it until I stripped it and dyed it orange! I think that the Sckoon cover is almost identical to the Imse Vimse ones though.

Cloth Diapering Mamas--Help!! Night diapering...?

Hi, I just started cloth diapering last week and I am so excited (read: obsessed lol). However, my baby seems more comfortable in disposables. Maybe I'm imagining it? I don't know. I thought he would be more comfy in cloth. Is your baby more comfortable in cloth? I know I would prefer cloth over disposables, but I just want him to be comfortable. I use organic cottons and bamboo velour and I change him often. At night I use a pocket or fleece topper with a wool soaker to keep the moisture away from his skin but my night diapers are SO bulky. Like, the size of a cantaloupe :-P. I dont know--maybe he is just not used to it since it's so new (he is 5 months old). I REALLY want to cloth diaper full time but I hate that he can't even move with the bulkiness of night diapers. And the covers over his fitteds all seem to leave red marks :-(. Any tips? I need help :-(. Thanks!

I have been cloth diapering my son for some time now and I have a few pieces of advice :) For one I love CD's!!! And I think that my son likes them too! And you do get used to the bulkiness of it all and you won't even notice it anymore. At night... who cares if the diaper is bulky?? Isn't it better to have your son wake up dry?

I only use pocket diapers (Happy Heiny One size) and at night I use one fleece insert one full size hemp insert and a small hemp oval (sometimes 2 ovals if he has had a bunch to drink right before bed). After sleeping for 11+ hours my boy wakes up with a dry bum and no red marks. So you might want to try a pocket at night :)

As far as movement/bulkiness... he will get better at moving around! Stick with it! I promise you won't regret it!

Good luck!

Cloth Diapering Moms...what are your favorite diapers?

I am 8.5 weeks pregnant, I know it's early, but I'm starting to build my stash so it's not so financially overwhelming.

So far I've bought 8 Goodmamas http://shop.thegoodmama.com/SearchResult s.asp?Cat=96

Next I'll be ordering some newborn prefolds http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/pref olds.htm with some newborn sized covers.

I think that I prefer using natural fabrics like cotton and bamboo because my husband and I both have sensitive skin and my child will probably inherit it. So I'm thinking about also buying some Bumgenius Organics and GroBaby as well as making a few diapers from a pattern I ordered http://www.kaylasclothkits.com/item_2/KC K-One-Small-Child-Pattern.php

What do you all think? Is there any other type of diaper that would be okay to use on sensitive skin? What do you all use?

We use Kayla's pattern and love them! I made them all myself and people are absolutely surprised at how cool they are. They are super easy to make and they look adorable. However, when I made them I never mastered the pocket fold in the back, so don't get too discouraged if you can't master it, just do the other type that she suggests, so that both the inner and outer have the elastic top, it's super easy and works great. FYI, my son had to be about 12 pounds before they fit in the smallest size, so we had to use disposable at first, maybe you can find a tiny sized cloth that will work at first. Also, the microfiber inserts she sells are great and we haven't found a better one yet.

Look for PUL on ebay, you can usually purchase it for $7/yd.
