I'm looking for some gently used hemp or organic cotton baby clothes, any colors. Any suggestions where?
Blue Sky Alpacas Multi Cotton Yarn

I live in St. Paul, Minnesota. I've looked on Craigslist and poked around ebay but haven't had much luck. There's a store called Peapod's, but all the organic cotton/hemp/bamboo-woven baby clothes are SUPER expensive. I don't want to spend that much when my 3-month-old girl is just going to end up spitting up or pooping on some/most of these garments. At the same time, though, I'd like to "go green" with my baby. So recommendations?? Please and thanks!

I thought eBay had a descent amount of organic cotton baby clothes. This site helps you find organic cotton baby clothes ending soon on eBay. Easy to hop on and bid on items ending soon with no bids. You can get some good deals this way. http://www.organic-cotton-baby-clothes.c om/

Where can I buy organic cotton in color mint green?

I've googled for hours at a time and getting nowhere. I'm looking for either woven fabric by the yard in a pastel green aka mint green (aka "baby blanket" green) or any women's clothing already made in color mint green. (preferably tops but anything really at this point).

I'd also consider the shade known as dusty green aka seafoam green.
NO blue, please. (A lot of daltonians out there invariably wear brown and blue these past few decades on St Patrick's Day and try to pass it as green!) ;o)

Any help greatly appreciated. I've tried all the google links I could find. I know it's gotta be out there somewhere. Heck I might even consider knit by the yard, even though I'm looking for organic cotton which is woven and not jersey/knit. Thanks!
Just wanted to add: I'm VERY chemically sensitive, just in case anyone was about to suggest dyes or chemicals on the fabric. that's why it's ORGANIC cotton. Thank you :o)

Where can I find colorful organic cotton baby bedding sets?

I really want to use organic materials around our baby, but I'm a huge fan of bold colors. The two don't seem to mix. Has anyone found a place to buy a crib bedding set (sheets, bumpers, etc.) that have bold colors?

I used to shop bedding for my children from character comforts site. They have many good bedding and i think you can also find bedding of your choice from their site.

Why is Indigenous Designs concealing the fact that their ORGANIC COTTON sweaters CONTAIN LEAD?
La Molienda de Cafe Vintage Mexican blouse

From their website:

"We are committed to: Investing in natural and organic fibers and environmentally-friendly dyes"

"Indigenous uses only certified organic cotton, which is grown without any harmful pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or artificial fertilizers. "

http://www.indigenousdesigns.com/section /company/philosophy
"In many cases, Indigenous utilizes the natural colors of organic cotton and fleece, eliminating the need for dyes to achieve complex color schemes within our fashion collections. Indigenous also develops low impact dyes which contain no heavy metals and are Azo - dioxazine compound free."

I also read something about their artisans not being exposed to toxic dyes. Now please take a look at this very interesting fact, from Overstock.com:
http://www.overstock.com/Worldstock/Orga nic-Cotton-Cable-Sweater-Peru/3485901/pr oduct.html

And I quote, since I believe the following gem will not be viewable by residents outside of California:

"WARNING: Attention California residents: This product contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm."

WTF???? How's that for being two-faced?! It's actually worse than non-organic cotton! :-(

Ok here is proof that this is an Indigenous Design brand. Take a look at the color, Amethyst and the photo. It is the exact same from the ID website here:

http://www.indigenousdesigns.com/shop/pr oduct/women/3003AMT/organic-cotton-cable

BUSTED, MAJOR TIME BUSTED!

This reminds me of all these so-called "natural and organic" shampoo & skin care companies that tout their products as "chemical-free" "organic and natural" "safe for chemically sensitive folks" and you turn the bottle around and it's got all these ingredients you can't pronounce and you search them and they're not only very toxic and carcinogenic, they're not natural at all (even though the company claims "vegatal" or "from coconuts") Well yeah after you add a crapload of synthetic carcinogens to the coconut you can still say that it comes from coconuts, you're just deceiving us by not disclosing the full truth!

IT'S TIME THAT INDIGENOUS DESIGNS AND OTHER MANUFACTURES OF SO CALLED ORGANIC COTTON CLOTHING AND ORGANIC SKIN CARE OWN UP TO THEIR DECEPTIVE TACTICS! CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, ANYONE?

Chemically injured and chemically sensitive people (aka persons with MCS) need to have full disclosure here. Personally, I have lead poisoning and don't need the aggravation.

What do you think? Why is this legal??

Your question caught my interest since I'm about to purchase some Peruvian sweaters so this is really scary!!

Ok. I just had a chat with Overstock.com They claim the "manufacturer" told them it has lead. So I'm thinking maybe Indigenous Designs is not at fault here but maybe they are in the dark? Maybe someone ought to contact ID's Matt or Scott. The thing that's confusing is INDIGENOUS DESIGNS IS THE MANUFACTURER! Overstock did acknowledge that the label is the manufacturer. But I'm thinking maybe the Peruvian artisans are lying to I.D? And telling the truth to Overstock? Hmm...it's really weird. And deceptive to say the least.

I found one email for Indigenous Designs:

Matt@IndigenousDesigns.com (I guess the other guy's email would be Scott@IndigenousDesigns.com but Matt seems to be "the man in charge"...)

At any rate, I wouldn't want to buy from them if they don't know what's up! :o( Here is my chat with overstock.com:

you: Ok.
you: Yes I do
you: Would you agree that is fair to say that the manufacturer and the brand name that appears on the label are one and the same?
Alten: Yes, it should be same.
you: Ok. Thanks. Would the label be still attached to the sweater were I to buy one?
you: Or do you guys remove labels?
you: And this should be my final question...
Alten: The item will include the original tags.

Hope this helps!

How to dye organic woven cotton with chlorophyll to obtain mint green shade?
Dancing Deers Red embroidered vintage Mexican blouse

4th time posting since I got zero replies (except for one rude person). I've posted this in Do it Yourself, Green Living and under Laundry. I hope this is the right category this time...

Is it possible to dye woven organic cotton with chlorophyll and zero chemicals? How to do it to obtain a pastel green or mint green shade? (It's the shade typically used in baby clothes & bedding in color green)

I've spilled liquid chlorophyll on my counters and clothes before and the stains are premanent. I'm not worried about "colorfastnest" I know it will last. I'm googling and getting nowhere.

I have chemical allergies and was looking for colorgrown organic cotton, in a woven fabric, color mint green or even dusty seafoam green but I can't find that and why I want to try to do it myself. (If you have links to that, please feel free to share!) :o)

I just want a recipe, a how to on how to do it, basically. Please do NOT suggest so called "low-impact dyes", they are synthetic and highly toxic.

Links much appreciated!

Thanks.

What you probably want is Fox fiber's cottons, which are shades of green, brown and pinkish right from the boll.
http://www.vreseis.com/

Unfortunately, yardage is difficult to come by.

Chlorophyll is pretty gummy and greasy, and not a good dye. It will also go brown in time, especially with light exposure. I've watched the action spectrum shift in the UV range in a spectrometer.

Have you tried green tea?
