I wanted to start a small business during my senior year or high school. Winter is coming up and I figured I should maybe start by making stuff such as baby blankets and clothes and/or dog clothes and beds. I want to make at least $700,000 by the time I'm 22 (not just supporting myself on this job) and hoping to start soon. Are these easy to make things with? Does anyone know where I can purchase organic cotton for cheaper? Even better...does anyone know where i can get alpaca fur for cheaper?
Is 50% alpaca 50% silk good? It seems to be cheaper and have deeper colors
Alpaca fur makes wonderful yarn! There is a business call The Alpaca Connection, perhaps you could get in contact with them somehow to learn more about Alpaca fur.

Does alpaca wool and cotton make good yarn?
First of all, I think it’s great that you want to start a small business and make your own products! Secondly, Alpaca fleece is a wonderful fiber that has many wonderful qualities –it’s lighter than wool but has many of the same properties wool does, it is getting easier to find and more affordable to buy, and it’s quite versatile for knitting, felting, crocheting, spinning, etc. As far as knowing where you can purchase it for cheaper depends on how much you are looking at paying right now. Are you buying yarn that someone else has already dyed and spun? There are some retailers that sell alpaca and blends at reasonable prices. Organic cotton is another matter…it’s more expensive because it’s more expensive to grow and process, therefore the cost is passed on the the consumer. People are willing to pay more for “organic” yarns and fibers for the same reason they’ll pay more for “organic” vegetables…it’s a matter of personal choice/lifestyle, not cost. And last of all alpaca/silk blend yarns are wonderful…soft and light, and yes the colours are beautiful due to the fact that silk absorbs dye so well and has a certain quality that causes it to “glow” and reflect light differently than other fibers.
