I need to dye it from baby blue to purple or lilac.

100% cotton dyes well got to craft/fabric shop/ supermarket and choose a colour from prepared dyes for a couple of dollars and done on stovetop or cold water dyes . Or try an organic dye like beet juice, berries ect. a bit of research may be needed to find a fixer or mordant though.

Baby's unknown allergy??????

My aunt's baby has skin rashes and becomes very irratible especially at night time. We changed all the baby's clothes to eithe 100% cotton or organic. We changed the detergent. All the baby's materials like blankets and bumpers and bed sheets are all either cotton or organic. We checked if he had a milk allergy and that doesn't seem to be the case.

Help!!! what could the baby's allergy be? The pediatrician took tests and the results are unknown. The baby is only on formula and has not yet started any type of cereal or solid foods. The pediatrician also perscibed rash cream and allergy medicine to be taken at night time but it doesn't help baby at all.

Please share asap!!!
the baby has been using the same shampoo, soaps, and wipes ever since he was born and no allergic reaction to any of those either.

Most formulas contain quite a lot of soy, milk, and corn. So I'm guessing that its probably one of those.

Alimentum Ready-To-Feed is corn-free.. so you could try that for a week and see if anything improves.

If not, then you could switch to something milk-free, or soy-free.. until you find the solution.

Allergy tests for babies are not very reliable.. so you're going to have to do a lot of trial and error.

As for detergents, it still could be the detergent even if you changed types.. you may want to try All Free & Clear.. many people with allergies have done very well with it. The only cases I know of that haven't done well with it, are people with a coconut allergy.

I'm highly suspicous that this may be a corn allergy, esp since the creams and allergy medicine aren't helping. Most creams and medications contain corn, so that may inactivate the helpfulness of the medication.

You might could try Cortizone ointment (cortizone in petroleum jelly) and see if that helps. Don't use much of it.. or regularly though as the steriod in it can damage the skin in repeated uses. But it would help you figure out what the problem might be.

Help deciding on a changing pad for baby!?

I was looking at the Serta Organic Contour Pad from Babies R Us for $29.99
This changing pad has a phthalate-free vinyl cover. The interior is 85% polyester and 15% organic cotton. These fibers are compatible to pass the requirements for TB 133 flammability testing which is authorized by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The vinyl used is not made out of PVC vinyl. The contour sides are nice. I would never leave my baby unattended, but I like the idea that the baby can't slide off as easy since I don't have an actual changing table (I'm short on space so I got a dresser/changing station combo and it doesn't come with guard rails) This pad also has straps with screws to secure it into the dresser.

However, I read some reviews. Most are positive, but some people are complaining because it's not 100% organic- it's just 15% organic. Also, a few people complained that the quality of the changing pad wasn't great; apparently, the seams were coming undone after a month or 2. However, it seems that the people who used changing pad covers did not have this problem at all and I intend on using changing pad covers.

My main concern is the baby's skin getting irritated. I have super sensitive skin and both my husband and I have eczema. I am worried my baby will have sensitive skin and eczema so I was wondering if organic is better or if this changing pad sounds good to you guys...have any of you purchased this item? Also, what are some tips when buying??

Thanks so much! =)

Honestly, I wouldnt buy a changing pad. I never use one. I lay my son on a blanket or towel either on a bed, crib or floor. Whatever is handy and near by

Organic cotton clothes and baby items are more popular now than ever, but why? Let’s look at why green moms and dads are choosing this earth friendly option.Cotton like many other crops is produced using pesticides and insecticides.

Chemicals are also used after the crop production, toxic dyes and preservatives are added in the processing plants. These are chemicals that are toxic to our environment and as a consequence, hazardous to us. Chemicals contribute to air problems, water pollution and animal health. On cotton farms, farmers are also affected and have been known to have related health problems like asthma and cancer. In order to provide our babies the best chance at growing up healthy and strong, it’s important that they be exposed to as few harmful chemicals or toxins as possible.
