I have a white cotton baby dress that I would like to frame and hang up. I don't want the dress to discolor or disintegrate over time. Help! How should I frame it, what should I avoid?
You could get it professionally framed from an archival specialist, but be prepared to spend some money. Or you could do it yourself. Shop around for a glass display case that resembles a shadow box. Make sure the glass is conservation quality (meaning it will filter out UV rays. Start by looking through 'amazon.com". I've been looking for a glass dome and amazon has a large selection of display cases and a few links to places that sell other kinds.
Then try 'philaprintshop.com' and get some help from the questions section or archival framing section.
Whichever way you go, make sure there are NO stains on the dress before framing. Even a small milk stain that seems unnoticable will probably yellow over time. Then hang the finished frame out of direct sunlight.

It can be a winter or holiday painting (or any art work) that shows the colors of white and blue (or baby blue). It can be the painting or art work of a white snow with someting that's blue or baby blue. So it can be an image from textbook, online, painting, Christmas cards, etc.
I need to design an outfit based on at least two different colors from the painting/art work to express the painting/art work's mood/emotion. Now I'm think of designing a baby blue dress with a white cotton (showing snow or fur) attached to the neckline.
So can anyone please help me out? Thanks.
Maxfield Parrish. He did a lot of dreamy fantasy pictures in the early 1900s. Personally i think they are some of the most beautiful works of art ever produced. He even has a shade of blue named after him: Parrish Blue. A lot of his works include clouds and are very feminine.
Here is a link to some of his work:

This sounds like a cool project. It combines two of my favorite subjects: art and sewing! good luck! i'd like to see how it turns out!

I want my daughter to wear a sweet little white dress that was mine when I was a baby-it's cotton with a little collar and a little white ribbon bow on the front...I don't want her to look like she's being christened though! Should I choose a different dress? I do have another dress that was mine as a baby-it's blue with bloomers and I don't want people to think she looks like a boy (the old ladies at church keep saying "he's so cute" even though she's in all pink! ridiculous)
what's your opinion?
The dress (either one actually) should be fine. If people get confused over her gender even if she's wearing pink, well, what can you do. I'm sure she'll look adorable and the senitmental value is priceless.
Hi, my daughter is being baptized in a few weeks in an Orthodox ceremony which consists of the baby being lathered in olive oil from head to toe before putting on a beautiful heirloom quality white cotton gown, How can I prevent the dress from being stained, I will not be able to wash it till that night about 8 hours after the contact with the oil. What do you recommend I do to prevent staining? Baby powder? oxyboost? Iron with heat?
My first inclination is that if the oil is blessed or whatever, (such as holy water), it becomes more important than everyday cooking oil. Treating it as a common laundry stain is kind of inappropriate. Wouldn't you say it is part of the experience, and you should leave it there?
The other suggestion is that if you can use a little less oil and rub it in more instead of letting it sit on top of the skin, you will have less problem with it greasing up the baby's gown. If the oil-er is you, just make sure of this. If it's the priest, you can ask if it is possible to be careful about it.

I have been a busy today! My friend, Amy and I have been cutting and pasting all the various "difference maker" submissions along with photos to the display boards we're putting up at Saturday's banquet. It felt like art class today as we pulled out our scrapbooking supplies and put together a pretty cool display if we do say so ourselves! I'll try and take my camera on Saturday night to take some pictures of everything to show you. Tonight we have a meeting for the banquet and then some of us are staying to discuss next year's plans for Abide. I've been feeling like God is asking me to step up and take a bigger role with the group so we'll see what He has planned with...
