i really like that dress but its too expensive and i think it will make me look old.
knee length, cotton dresses that i can layer with a crew/scoop neck tshirt are preferred. also i dont want to wear it just for grad, i want to use it in high school too. ive looked at macys and other stores but they look very night-ish and very prom, lol.
that might be an okay dress for other occasions...for graduation, not so much. if you're willing to splurge, nordstrom usually has a nice selection of dresses that aren't too casual and aren't too formal either.
you should look for a simple dress that's knee length or longer. if you wear something a little bit bolder (for ex, a bunch of ruffles) you might regret it looking back. (also you don't wanna look $lutty, thats why you should be mindful about the length.)
i guess your best bet would be to look in the sale section of macy's, that's where i got my elementary school graduation dress. forever 21 also has a huge selection of dresses, so you might wanna look there.
but seriously, be real. look for reasonable prices 'cause you're probably only going to wear whatever it is once because by the time you reach high school, you'll have grown a lot. don't be afraid to look in the "sale" section for stuff, sometimes it can surprise you.
*also its a good idea to go to a store instead of buying something online because it might not fit as well as you thought it would.
good luck!

My dress code is so strict and there are no loop holes that I have found so far so I'm stuck wearing the same thing as the rest of the school. It is so strict here are the rules.
Bottoms- pants, capris, shorts/skorts/skirts (to the knee). Can be khaki or black. Material: cotton/twill, denim, corduroy (NO spandex).
No oversized, tight fitting, bagging, sagging, or low rise (at least a 4-inch zipper) .No oversized, tight fitting, bagging, sagging, or low rise (at least a 4-inch zipper). NO cargo pockets, skinny pants.
Tops-short or long-sleeved crew-necked t-shirts, sweatshirts (pullover, hooded, or zippered), No undershirts. Colors: turquoise, black, gray. Materials: cotton blend, NO spandex. No oversized or tight fitting. No holes or tears. No layering with tanks or vests over a t-shirt, scoop or v-neck t-shirts, no bolero style, crop style shirts. No layering
Jackets: light weight jackets only. turquoise, black, gray (including the hood lining) .No patterns, stripes, writing, or fur trim. Logos must be smaller than a half-dollar coin.
Accesories-Solid school colors only (turquoise, black, or gray): visible knee socks, undershirts, and hair bows (maximum of two)
Belts: black or brown leather (leather-like) worn in belt loops with plain belt buckles, no initials or skulls.
Shoes/sandals: must have a back or back-strap
Not Allowed: scarves, neckties, extreme make-up, earrings greater than 1” in diameter, gloves, slogan buttons, stickers on clothing or face, bandannas, chains, pins, writing on clothing, studded items, necklaces 18” or longer, caps or hats in the building.
Hair- Natural colors only, including highlights. No artificial colored extensions.
Hair styles such as Mohawks or Fauxhawks or any other similar style may not be greater than 2 inches in stature. No hair style may block a student’s eyesight.
So as you can see they are VERY strict. And it's really hard but if you would be able to find anything I could wear that would be AMAZING.
Thank you so much! Paula(:
BTW I LOVE Pink.
I like the store Aero, Hollister, A+F, and of course, any designer stores, all of the stores like that. And again, I LOVE pink(:.
Thanks again!
Oh yeah, and the spending budget, I don't really have one, when i find something I really like I buy it.(: But under maybe $100 for bottoms, under $30 for shirts, and accesories, have no budget.
Man, that sucks! And I thought I had it bad!
Try shopping at stores like Forever 21, with a more classy and sophisticated style. That's where I bought all my clothes, because they adhere to MY strict dress code, and they barely cost anything. I highly recommend their dresses! Good luck Paula!

What do you think...it comprises of a navy/white stipe cotton/cashmere crew neck sweater, a white oxford dress shirt, and pink slim cut chinos. All by Ralph Lauren of course...now I need to make my mind up on shoes, white suede bucks or shell cordovan wingtips...either way I think it will be classy.

I could even add a navy w/red stipe repp tie and then tie the sweater losely around my neck.
Very preppy and cute! Looks like you belong on the TV show Gossip Girl with that outfit. Lol.

I don't really know what else I should get, everything has just built up in my warddrobe over the years. I'd like some more fashionable/cool clothes.
& I wanna update it for the new year.
You should wear whatever you want to wear. You seem to have your own style down and I don't think it needs anymore repairing or anything. Just be youself and nothing can go wrong...

Any other ideas?
Please just don't say my dress code is strict, ik that.
Katie DB - September to MIDOctober and then from May till the end of the school year we're allowed to wear polos with our school name on them - they come in gray, black, white and marroon. I'm getting all the colors so I have a lot of variety.
hmm...try to find bright and colorful shirts with different patterns on them. Also get a bunch of really bright flats or low wedges. Try and wear dark pencil skirts and stuff. They always look really nice on most people. Or find longer skirts, that aren't as common as others. It kind of pushes the limit, but is still in there.
Get some really cool jewelry. If that's something no one else has, it makes your outfit seem different.
What do y'all do when it's hot?? I mean at my school, we barely survive in our t shirts at the end of the year. But then again, Southern weather is killer.

Objects of My Closet's Affection: J.Crew Jessie Cotton Dress *Updated*
For some reason, I feel cute in this dress. It does come in an XXS, which to me means it runs big..... which, it probably does because I'm 5 months pregnant and the XS fits just fine with some extra room. I didn't really need this, but the color sold me on it, plus like I said, something about it just makes me feel cute!
I sooooooo wanted to love this dress. Btw, I am 25 weeks preggo, and i bought the "double v dress" from jcrew and it is adorable, even on my preggo bellly. I highly recommend that dress. But this jessie dress? when i got it, i was disappointed, as the material is so thin and the bottom skirt part is almost see through. I got the gray color. Maybe it's just the gray , but it was so thin and sheer and just not worth the money, in my opinion. This dress DOES look cute on you, and if anything makes you feel CUTE, being preggo, it's a keeper!!!!!!!! So-hate to burst your bubble, but I ordered that ATL lilac colored dress and I found the material to be ultra thin. I felt like it hung to all the wrong places (rear, thighs, gasp) and I could defintely not wear underwear w/it (who wants to see a preggo woman w/out underwear :)) I also found it to run big. I typically wear an 8 and ordered a medium and it was loose, but still clingy in the wrong spots.
