i sew baby and toddler dresses. so far, i have been using quilting cotton but i find it to be a little too?
biodress4

thick. i am looking for a lighter weight cotton but do not know what this might be called: poplin? lawn? calico? voile? does anyone know the best cotton for this purpose? i am looking for something lightweight but not sheer.
thanks

thanks, everyone! is cotton batiste very expensive? what about calico? i have noticed it is cheaper than quilting cotton. would this be OK for toddler's dresses? i would like to pay no more than $5/yd. thanks for your help! sue

What is the brand of a toddler girls white eyelet dress with pink underlay from JcPenney sold at Easter 2009?
biodress1

Ok, I saw this dress just after easter this year at JcPenneys, it was a white eyelet dress with either pink or green underlay fabric that showed through the eyelets. The eyelet pattern was in flower shapes. The dress was cotton and it was toddler/little girls size around 2T-4T. I am trying to find this dress for my flower girls in my wedding, with no luck. Please let me know the brand of this dress if you bought it or if you happen to know of something that looks like it please let me know that too. Thanks.

Perhaps it's the Bonnie style, since JcPenney carries those. Check here to see if you find it: http://www.thefind.com/apparel/info-bonn ie-dress#store=181&local=0

Otherwise, you might be able to find something similar on http://www.pinkprincess.com/

My toddler has to dress like a clown for daycare. Any ideas on what to dress her in?
biodress3

The only idea I can think of is this cute pair of flowery mary janes that I bought her and to possibly make a t shirt with an iron on of a clown and a party hat covered in fuzzy craft cotton balls in different colors?

Get a pair of footy pajamas, such as the ones in the first link, something bright, and something easy to match, and cut the feet off of them. Put on bright colored but somewhat matching to the pj's leg warmers, second link, over the bottoms of the legs of the pjs, with pink socks and the mary-janes. Then put a bright colored hat, 3rd and 4th link, and an obvious spot of bright pink blush on both cheeks. Everything is multiple usage, so after you are done, you will be able to use it again. Get a few big pom-poms and somehow attach them to the middle of the pajamas. Maybe hot glue them onto a strip of fabric and safety pin that on? And get a 2 ft by 2 ft piece of pink fabric, cut a hole for your child's head, cut it into a circle, and pin that on. She'll be the cutest clown there!!! I hope I gave you a few ideas to use!!!

I am kind of thinking of the clown on the far left in this picture.

Hartstrings Baby-girls Infant Seersucker Cap Sleeve Dress, Pink Y/d Str, 18 Months
Hartstrings

Price: $54.00 $54.00

Hand embroidered collar and smocking
100 Percent Cotton
Back tie bow sash

crochet mercerised cotton thread for 5shells to 2inches on steel crochet hook no.2--which is the right thread

i have a pattern for a lacy dress for a toddler that says:
100% mercerised cotton thread, 3-400Yd.balls
does it mean size 3 or 3 balls --if so, what size thread?
the frock looks lacy and fine

When in doubt, buy more than you need and keep the receipt.

That's what I typically end up doing.

When a project calls for mercerized cotton, you can substitute baby yarn and just use a smaller hook. The project will work as long as you check your gauge and stick to it.

(I read your pattern as meaning 3 balls of 400 yd. thread.)

I want to dress up as cotton candy for halloween, I know its early...this or any other ideas?
biodress2

I don't want like to glue cotton balls to me or actually look alot like the thing....like I was thinking of having like pink hair in pigtails and like really blue/pink girly makeup, a dunce hat(holder thing), a white short poofyish skirt, light pink leggings and like a pink shirt or something and a bow.....idk just an idea. Or do you have any CUTE suggestions. Something unique but cute, like my friend was wonder bread and used like the toddler costume for a top and then had like a party hat the colors of the bag......just something cute...thanks.
yeah i like the cotton candy idea but im not really sure how to do the shirt......hello kitty store probably has some cute ideas......hmmm

YOU can be a sandwhich
use big pieces of felt for the cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and but an olive with a biig toothpic on top of you head as your hat
