Cotton Short Sleeve Dress

I have a short-sleeved cotton kaftan dress which I would like to make long-sleeved, but I have minimal sewing experience. Please provide detailed answers!!

Buy fabric for your new sleeves. Just to be safe, get 3 yards. Fold it once so it's a double layer.

Pick apart the seam on the old sleeves. Pay attention to how it's attached. Does the opening match exactly, or is the sleeve gathered a little bit to fit the armhole?

Lay it on your folded material and pin it down. With a yardstick, draw out the long sleeve extending from the bottom of the short sleeve. Cut both layers at once.

Attach your new sleeves the same way the old ones were attached. The long seam of the sleeve should be a direct extension of the side seam on the dress. The top center of the sleeve should match the top center of the shoulder on the dress.

Hem up the cuff and you are done!

I would like a simple cotton dress. Short sleeved and goes to right above the knees. Any solid color would be great!!!!! A little detailing or tailoring is fine, but I want the design pretty simple.

I didn't really see any with sleeves, but a cute white cardigan can go over anything and it's a nuetral color so it also matches everything. :)

but you might not want to button it like in the picture. Leaving it unbuttoned makes it more youthful and fun :)
