Cotton Dress Dark

I'm having trouble trying to decide what color sweater would look best with my dark purpley (plum i suppose) dress... if you have any suggestions please share! Thank you :]

grey would look nice. i agree with the teal. white and black are a little boring, though. maybe yellow, too, if you can pull it off.

I have a purple Cotton dress I want to break up the Color by tie dyeing it I don't know how. I would like some moss green and other like colors that go with the purple. Can someone help me?

Dyeing a dark fabric another color just doesn't work. It will wind up being some darker shade of purple, or brown, or black. You have to start with light colors then dye them darker colors. The best tie dye jobs start with white fabric. Sorry.

I've never dyed clothing before and I have a light brown dress that I bought desperately wishing it were dark brown. Does anyone know the best dye to use to make it dark brown? It's a cotton dress. So I need to know what brand of dye to use and how to do it!

Use dylon machine dye. All you do is put the dye, some salt and the dress in the washer on a 40 degree wash and its done.

It is a knee length dress with no gathers or intricate type of things and it is so cute but it was once a darker brown and I bought it used and it had faded to a tan color over the years it's been used. I would like to dye it black (not tie dye but all black) Does anyone know what dye I could/should use and if there is one that would make it entirely black and not wash out easily?
Okay some have said black is a no go. Has anyone been able to dye something black or even dark gray with success? Also if anyone knows a place I can get dye's that aren't very expensive. That would be a great help.

If I were you I'd choose another color. Black is a very difficult color to dye with. It never comes out dark enough, dyes unevenly, and fades with every wash. I would suggest maybe a darker shade of brown unless you don't mind ruining the dress.

Think it is cotton/lace. May have rayon in it. Dress is lined too - we think the lining may be nylon.

very tricky!! try to find a dye remover at the store, but read the box carefully; sometimes fabric blends are hard to deal with when trying to remove the dye; but DO NOT bleach it!! a dye remover is best..if all else fails, call a local dry cleaner just to get their opinion...good luck!!
