Black Strapless Cotton Dress

Its a plain black cotton bubble dress.
Strapless, though at the moment it has a thin halter strap that i attached last time i wore it.
It was not an expensive dress but I want to fancy it up, what can I do or how can I alter or add to it too make it stand out?!

Sew a bit of ruffley net or lace to the bottom too make it look like a petticoat or something sticking out. A bright color, like hot pink. Add a brooch to it at the top off centered. Or wear a bright belt around it.

The dress is knee length and cotton. Also I have really fair skin and I don't want to look like a vampire. Also what shoes would look god with it?

well i personally would wear a pair of brightly colored leggings, maybe patterned, and a matching colored tshirt under the dress. black, white, or gray flats or chucks would work with that for less dressy. if you want to be a little more less crazy (= then go with a white tshirt and white or gray leggings with black flats or heels. whatever you wear, wear it with confidence and you should be fine.

keep in mind its gonna be 76 degrees at 8-9pm (nightime)

*a strapless black cotton dress that goes above the knee (its very casual feeling).
*taking a long cardigan with tye-dye blues and white (looks like a snake skin replica) just in case we happen to go inside somewhere cold. (i get sick easily going from hot to cold)
*a long, gold and turquoise pendant necklace and white casual peep toe wedges.

my hair is going to be down in some waves but if it gets too hot im gonna put it in a messy pony tail.

i'll have smokey eyes and nude lips.

no earings or bracelets...
OH and a black shiny fake leather purse!

very nice :) keep in mind that you don't have to be too fancy if you're just going to the movies or something. you don't want your date to be overwhelmed

I have a little black, cotton, strapless, converse brand dress and I want to wear it to school but I don't know what to wear with it. I usually don't dress up at all for school but I want to surprise my friends. Because I don't usually dress up, I don't want to look TOO dressed up. Ya know? So what are some things that I can put with it to make it a little more modest (since I have to have something covering my shoulders) but cute and relaxed. It might even be cool to add a little beachy style to it. Well please give me some options and advice! Thanks :)

Well, i would definetly do a blue jean jacket, and some cute canvas flats. Pair it with some hoops and a pony tail! dressed down, and cute!

That would still be pretty, even though it isn't a satin dress...Cotton always looks good..you could also get a pair of metallic gold shoes...

I was going to suggest a beautiful ribbon of any color as a belt...you could also use some of the ribbon to entwine in your hair, whether as a simple headband, or pinned into an up-do... with shoes to match...
