Belted Cotton Dress

The dress buttons up in the front with matching belt. Comes just above knee. I have brown wedges, ruby open toe sandals and black stilleto type shoe. Which should I wear?

Well, this is a question with a wide variety of answers. Well the first thing is, if it's a summer dress, i would go with some wedges, not the brown ones though because just blah. If it's more of a dressy dress, the stilettos sound fine, but maybe red? or yellow? Yellow goes great with green very Dolce and Gabbana. OOh ok Yellow flats, red bag, blue bracelet. It's a color no one will be expecting. Or if you don't want to buy new shoes, go with the red shoes and a yellow bag. very summer time. And you won't be able to dress like that much longer. Fall is coming up! That means dark reds, oranges and greens.

Trust me with this too. I have a degree in this. Literally

I was gifted a simple, black cotton dress with sleeves (not long, just above the elbow). But it looks like a nigh gown on me since it has no shape. What accessories do i use to make it work for different occassions? (a date, a walk in the park with friends, etc) It would help if you had a website with pictures or the store's website.

I have an hourglass shape if it helps to pick belts. I have no idea about using belts on the waist for dresses. never tried it. Pls help!!

u have an hrglass figure---then u sud definitley try on belts....
to make this dress chick---just buy a broad red belt.....wear red heels with it---it will be just perfect for a day out!

the dye is from a red pastic belt

it may be impossible.


Rit Dye makes a "dye" like thing that takes out some dyes/stains, but it may effect the black and white.

you could write/call/email the manufacturer of the belt, and ask if they have recommendations.

You can try soaking it in cold or cool water, and changing the water every 3 or 4 hours.
make sure that the water doesn't drain by accident, which may help the red stain to spread.

I just bought this vintage bright red cotton jersey maxi dress from a thrift store and i am altering it right now to be a low v neck. It looks a little like this;

but it is bright red and has a pleated bottom part. I just want to know what you would wear on top to make it look more casual; i am already wearing muted bronze gladiator sandals on the bottom. Scarves, jackets, belts, jewelery etc? Pls provide links. My goal here is to not look from afar like I'm trying to wear a red evening gown around town just for kicks :)

my Aunt wore them to collage. For some reason I want to say Cambridge or something like that. They where very well made and classic looking. with rounded collars and form fitted.Yokes where pletted or pocketed. very comfortable, thin belted or no belt. Pappagallo shoes or penny loafer were worn with these dresses.
