I need to know several things about the production/production cost of cotton: machinery used (other than cotton gin), the labor costs, demand, and the main type of pest control used

The main type of pest control used on cotton crops are pesticides. The top five are: cyanide, dicofol, naled, propargite, and trifluralin.

Harvesting: The cotton picker (no, not people, but a machine) and the cotton stripper are most commonly used.

Labor costs: didn't find costs, but this statement by Wikipedia
Cotton production is very efficient, in the sense that ten percent or less of the weight is lost in subsequent processing to convert the raw cotton bolls into pure fiber.

Using a cotton candy machine -
will it damage the machine if it's NOT regular sugar?? Will I get any cotton candy at all if I do change the sugar?? Pls let me know..thx.

Sugar substitute won't work because it is the chemical structure of sugar that leads to the cotton effect. You could try fructose (fruit sugar like Sweetaddin or Fruisana) as this has a similar structure and bulk to sucrose. But heat has a slightly different effect on it - it "sets" morewhen it's used in jam, etc and becomes slightly sweeter than normal sugar too.
In the end - the only other sugar I recommend you try in the machine is fructose but no guarantees

When my grandma passed away she left a closet full of all types of fabrics - I would like to donate some and sell the bigger pieces but do not know how to determine quality or content. Most of it is from the 60s and 70s before she switched to knitting. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

"The good stuff", then and now: high quality cotton, linen, silk and wool. Knits became especially popular in the second half of the 60's; polyester and acrylic abounded in the knits. Rayon was mostly considered a cheap, high maintenance fabric.

How to tell what you've got: A burn test is probably the easy way to get an idea of what you've got. Take a small snippet of the fabric (about 1/4"x1" is fine), hold it with needle nose pliers or tweezers over the kitchen sink, light it, and observe what happens:
