Why are Tshirts showing the stages of human evolution against school dress code?

You can't wear T-shirts showing the stages of human evolution at Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, Mo., about an hour-and-a-half east of Kansas City, Mo.

School officials banned the shirts after parents protested. Assistant Superintendent Brad Pollitt told the News-Leader in Springfield, Mo., that the school must remain neutral on religion.

Evolution isn't religion. It's science. But it's science that parent and teacher Sherry Melby told the paper that Smith-Cotton High School should not be encouraging. "I don't think evolution should be associated with our school," she said.

Wow. I hadn't heard of this one.

But there you see the problem. A small group of parents make the connection that evolution is "anti-God" (even though evolution is no more "anti-God" than gravity is "anti-God" for suggesting that apples fall to the ground without the need to invoke a divine act to explain it). So whether evolution is *actually* anti-God doesn't matter ... all that matters is that a small group of religious conservatives *SAY* it is... and then insist that any mention whatsoever of evolution is an "attack on religion."

All this does is make those Christians, and the school by catering to them, appear very very small-minded and foolish ... and positively "anti-science."
