Compared to Fiberglass insulation, how much warmer or colder would recycled cotton or cellulose insulation be? please answer fast!
I worked with recycled cotton insulation when I worked with
Habitat for Humanity in Baton Rouge, LA., and they told us
that it would work great down there because they have mild
winters, but it wouldn't be good for up north. so I guess it
depends on where you live.

I am looking to buy some recycled fabric (preferably cotton, but it doesn't really matter). I don't need large quantities of it. I just need some for a project I am working on.
If you know of any websites or places that I can get some, please let me know.
Thanks
Try your local freecycle site. Just go to www.freecycle.com and register for the one nearest you. Then you can post on the site what you are looking for. I've done this with denim and men's suiting for art projects I was working on. Best of all, you get it for free and you are keeping stuff out of the landfill.

I am starting a business that sells environmentally friendly products. The idea is for the products to promote the website for the organizaiton I started to raise awareness and activism for environmental issues. Each product will target something that we can do as individuals to make a difference. Our first planned proudct will be a small size (19 by 33) laundry type bag with a pull string made out of recycled cotton that otherwise would go to landfills. The idea with this product is to bring the bag with you to the grocery store, the mall, or whatever shopping you might be doing. It wil carry the logo for our organization, as well as state the number (somewhere in the billions) of plastic bags that wind up needlessly in landfills every year. A portion of the profits will go to environmental charities. I am trying to set the pricing on this item to sell the most quantity. Knowing that part of the money goes to charity, would you be willing to spend $20 on a product like this?
No, I will not help to finance your self made job in the name of charity!
(And your product sucks as does the whole idea))

It is well known that cotton can be recycled and pressed into sheets of paper, but can this paper be put in recycling and be made into paper again once used?
Yes, it can. Paper can be recycled repeatedly, although not endlessly. The fibers can become shorter with each recycling; high quality cotton paper is capable of being recycled up to 10 times.
The "final stop" for paper is often phone books or newspapers, although they themselves can be recycled at least one more time!
This is a good article on the subject http://www.tappi.org/paperu/all_about_pa per/faq.htm
Can cotton filling be recycled or does it damage the environment?

So can man made fibers.
BUT, a big BUT!
So many are blends and they cannot be separated.
This is true of carpet.

Company uses recycled cotton to make eco-friendly t-shirts
When a traditional fashion company manufactures clothing out of cotton materials they do not use all of the materials possible and there are many scraps that get left behind. These scraps are usually discarded making much waste and in essence wasting much. Enter Green Fashion Line.
The company makes a line of eco-friendly t-shirts using this unwanted and often discarded cotton scrap for a cool looking line of t-shirts that is totally Earth friendly. When you think about it, these shits are even more on the green side than organic cotton because there is no new materials that need to be produced.
As well as being planet friendly the shirts are also fun to wear as they sport several different saying on them such as ‘ Uptight? Dance!’ and ‘Sow simple, reap goodness.’ You can check out the full line of t-shirts at their website .
