I don't know that he could "sell whites out" because he would still have a Congress and the "people" to deal with. Field slaves rarely had contact with the master. They were under survellience by the " man with the whip". Indoor slaves a had a better life overall ....if you can call it that. They got to travel with their owners and they were trained in the ways of etiquette when owners entertained. Indoors slaves rarely.. if ever.. had contact with outdoor slaves because they did not live in slave cabins.
