Hello, It is september 2009 and I live outside of Toronto, Canada. Ive ordered some cotton sees to grow for fun. Im planning on planting them in a pot. What information can you give me for growing cotton???
Haha were not cold year round. Its still hot here
Good luck with your project! Cotton needs a lot of light, and won't care much for the freezing temps found in the Great White North. It also needs a really long growing season for the bolls of cotton to develop. More tips here:
I wanted to grow classic cash crops to see how they grow and i tried wheat did not go so well but the cotton gets a thumbs up, easy to grow ...
I obtained some seeds but could find nothing on line about growing cotton. The person who sold them to me could offer no help.
I found this site, it has all the particulars. I've grown ornamental cotton, it's a bit difficult, it takes some work. Check the laws in your state first. If cotton is a cash crop in your state it may be illegal to grow ornamental cotton because of the boll weevil threat.

I want to grow about 10 acres of cotton. Recon how much I could make selling it. I cant find prices or how much it cost to sell. The county extension agent has been little to no help. I want to grow this in northwest Florida

I have heard that land that has been used to grow cotton for many years acquires some sort of condition that makes the groundwater unusable. Apparently public water must be brought in to some remote places to compensate for this. Is this true?
cotton wont kill the land. its the chemicals. here in ar there are a lot of rice and soy fields. they are always spraying and burning the fields. its terrible and the water here is awful. im from memphis and when i came here i stopped drinking water its so bad. plus their is a high number of crones disease here i think could be a result from the water. however years and years of planting crops without spraying the anhidrous and other minerals as well as not resting the feilds will robb it of its nutrients and be unsuitable for anything.
And they make me pick it, and they only pay me ran over pennies):
wow pennies?

Why buy children’s organic clothing? Color and style choices are limited, prices may be slightly higher, and finding organic cotton baby clothes and toddler clothes is not always easy as few stores carry certified organic cotton clothing. Actually, there are many reasons to seek out organic, sustainable options; and, especially when shopping online, there are numerous stores that sell children’s organic clothing, as well as toys and other products that offer a much more sustainable future for the children they are purchased for.
The Benefits of Choosing Organic Cotton Baby and Toddler ClothesOf course organic cotton baby clothes are a safer, more natural option, particularly ideal for young infants and toddlers who may have sensitive skin. Organic cotton is not grown with toxic chemicals and pesticides or artificial fertilizers. Most producers of organic cotton clothing tend to use natural, environmentally-friendly dyes that won’t irritate the skin, or harm the environment.
