the cotton has to be embroidery and lardge spools more than a thousand meters. use alot so large spools are needed.Have tried brother Aust and USA know one sells them.

I have just started doing crewel and it seems to be going fine- I mean, not as fleshed out looking as true crewel but otherwise fine. I had to use what I had around the house, I have gone through my budget for this month.
Any suggestions of good sites with info about crewel sites? I really enjoy this art but I can't seem to find a lot of info about it.

yes you can use a full six strand embroidery floss and get just about the same effect, just take smaller stitch spaces and keep it even.

The fabric is thin cotton, as used for quilting. I've tried lightweight cutaway and tearaway layered, but the stitches pucker the fabric as soon as I take it out of the hoop.

When I want absolutely no shifting of the fabric as the machine embroiders the design I use HTCW Wet N' Set Adhesive Tear Away or Floriani Wet N Gone Tacky.

An alternative is to use temporary spray adhesive for fabric - spray it on the stabilizer and press the fabric onto the stabilizer.
