Cotton Wool

Ever since i was really young (2 or 3), i have gone to bed every night holding a cotton wool ball in my hand. My mum started me off with it as she used to put lavender oil on it to help me sleep. It's a habit i haven't broken and my friends/partners think it's kind of sweet yet strange. Has anyone else done this with a cotton ball and what is the psychology behind it?

I think it is probably like the comfort blanket many people have as small children. The lavender at the time helped you to relax and sleep and reminded you of Mum when you were alone in the dark, but by now you should have broken the habit, although some adults still go to sleep with,say a Teddy Bear in place of the comfort blanket because it serves the same purpose of re-assurance that you are not alone.

Music all the way

i recently had a house party and at some point during the night a packet of cotton wool pads fell on the floor, these got kicked around and stepped on and are now really mashed into the carpet

There's now white cotton wool fluff covering most of the carpet in my living room. I've tried hoovering it up but that doesnt seem to work....any ideas?

try to use a broom, the one that is made out of corn not the cheap plastic ones.

You are gonna have to go old school on this one, but it will work.

The roots have grown through the cotton wool. How do i get rid of the cotton wool without damaging the plants?

remove as much as you can with nail scissors, then bed out with what cotton is left on the root

Question: Why may people use cotton wool to help with the growth of plants?

Normally they will hook the cotton wool just around the stem of the plant. Why is this?

I think because it retains fluid for the plant since cotton is absorbent and wicking.
My Grandpa used to save and cut up old cotton rags into small pieces and mix it with the soil when he was planting his garden.
He used to grow the most beautiful, big, delicious Tomato's. Actually everything in his garden grew so much better and tastier than the stuff we buy in the stores now days.
I never asked him why but that's the only thing I can figure.

I have a white Burberry coat that's been in storage for about a year, due to a move. I recently got the coat out of storage in my attic, and when I removed it from the garment bag, it was covered in faint yellow stains. I have no idea what these stains are, or how to go about removing them. The coat is a cotton and wool blend. Any advise would be appreciated.

Uh-Ohhhhh....sounds like someone had an accident. lol, jk. Try the old club soda trick. If that doesn't work take it to a reputable cleaner.
