We are building a cat tree for two kittens and want to make sure that cotton cord will work as a wrap for the scratching post part of the tree, or, is twine better? (we're not sure if the cotton cord will stand up to lots of scratching as well as twine would)
I would stick with twine, I don't think that cotton cord will stand up to the claws.

Its very important that I find 20.12 cotton twine(or whatever is used nowadays) to make a cast net.
A very good friend of ours is going in for heart surgery and wants to pass on her technique for making a Cast Net to me.
She goes under in one month so its urgent that I find my supplies soon.
If you could post a link to a place that will ship to Florida it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you...

OK. First time bead crafter. I have size 8 seed beads. I like the look when they perfectly align very straight on the string.
With thin thread (or wire like tigertail) or nylo the beads are messed up on the thread since the thread is much smaller than the bead's hole.
Is there any other beading thread that has thickness thick enough to plug almost the entire bead hole? What is it called? (I want to use the size 8 beads, don't like smaller).
I DO NOT WANT TO USE WIRE! (Sorry for caps!) :O)
Can I use the cotton twine or will my necklace break from seed bead friction?
Thanks and have a great night! ♥
Thx! Gr8 site. Unfortunately I need my twine to be white or very close: I'm using very pale glass opalescent beads and so the dark of the hemp color would "kill" my bead color. Any other I can use?
Cotton twine will not hold up. What you want is Polished Hemp Cord.

I would like to thank all those who have helped me with my first guestion. The vertic is still out on it but she has stoped eating her fur for now. I would like to hang some chew toys from her cage so she dose not get board, but I have no idea what is a safe string for her to eat. Thank You all again.
I don't think any of things you've mentioned above are safe for rabbits. I might be wrong, I've just never heard of these things before as being okay for rabbits. Here are some other ideas...
Alfalfa hay for babies and Timothy hay for adults
Untreated wicker baskets
Straw
Untreated wood
Cardboard (tolit paper and paper towel rolls work great)
Newspaper (okay for them to shred but not to eat)
Paper bags
It's very important for bunnies to have lots of toys and chewable to keep their mind active. The above are great ideas and will make your rabbit very happy. For more safe rabbit toys and creative homemade ideas, go to http://www.rabbit.org/care/index.html (under the "mental health" section).

D.I.Y. Thrifted Pattern Gift Wrap - Home - Creature Comforts ...
Hello everyone! Please helo me give a cheery welcome to Rikkianne...our very first contributor for the Creature Comforts 18 Days Series. You may already know Rikkianne from her business Chakra Pennywhistle where she creates the most wonderful home textiles and accessories for living.
And now...Rikkianne's D.I.Y. Thrifted Pattern Gift Wrap:
Create a simply beautiful gift wrap by visiting your local thrift shop. Thrifting for materials is a fun and inventive way to recycle and create a unique, personal experience when it comes to gift giving. My Grandmother volunteers at a thrift shop here in Tucson. Her lovely coworkers allowed me to come in and take a few snapshots. I had to photograph the craft section. Most thrifts have one of these areas filled with everything from fabric scraps, yarn, to sewing patterns. I personally love this section of the shop. There is just something about browsing those shelves. The yarn is half-used, the ribbon has been cut, the patterns have been opened - yet they are all still of good use and waiting to be revived.
