Cotton Trousers

I recently got grease in cotton trousers. What is the best way to get it out of it.

What I usually do is sprinkle some baby powder on it and let it soak in. Then you can use some stain remover, rub it all over the stain and throw it in the washing machine and see how it comes out. It will be gone.

how do you get a butter stain out of cotton trousers. without marking the material. They are light grey

I once did an experiment to see what common product dissolved oil the best.

I took 4 cubes of solid butter. I dropped each cube into a small glass of water.

I added vinegar to one, baking soda to another, salt to a third, and dish washing liquid to the fourth.

The winner? Dish washing liquid. That cube was completely dissolved within a half an hour. The other products didn't touch their cubes.

So...rub dish washing liquid generously into the butter stains. (Any brand of dish washing liquid works.) Allow to sit for a half an hour. Then launder as usual.

The dish washing liquid won't hurt your pants.

I spilt cooking oil on them - I put fairy liquid on and then washed them in a normal wash but they are still stained. The trousers are new and really nice so I need to clean them up. Thanks!!!

Stain Devil have a solution that is sold in most shops that can remove the oil stain it should be near the washing detergent section.Good luck.

I don´t think bleaching your trousers before dying them is a good idea. Bleach seem´s to be the answer to everybody´s stain remover and cleaning solutions. Bleach will eat the fabric, also after a few times using bleach on your clothes, turns them yellow and gray. Just dye then, if you have other items of clothing you wish to dye black, pop them in the washing machine together. Just remember to rinse your machine well, before putting any clothes in
