Cotton Tank

If I dye a black and white striped cotton tank yellow, will the black remain pretty much the same, while the white stripes become yellow? I am trying to do a bee costume for Halloween. Also, any suggestions for brand of dye would be great!

I don't think you can change the color of black with anything but bleach. I would get some Rit dye and a light yellow, because white cotton will grab the color and if too dark, might end up orange. I think that would give you yellow and black.

My cotton tank top always expand in size after each wash!

Its annoying because i wont be able to wear them already if they become too big in size and I will have to spend money to buy a new one again.

Is there a way to prevent it from expanding in size?
Does the method of washing matters?

I would wash them as you would wool, hand washing is safe, and don't handle too much, just squeeze the soapy water through the garment. After the final rinse, put each item into a large towel and roll up, queeze as much water out as you can without twisting the towel( I usually put it on the floor and stand on it) then lay it (gently) flat to dry, forming it to the shape you want it to be. stretching, twisting and putting it in the washer will over work the fabric causing it to stretch.

I was folding my laundry and saw that my tank top had a navy blue color on it. I searched through other clothes and found that my tank top was the only one. The color looks like dye. How can i remove it? Can It be removed with bleach, since the tank top is white.

you could use bleach
or
you could soak it in oxi clean diluted in warm water for a while. That works for all stains and color bleeding onto other colors. It's safer than bleach. Bleach tends to yellow with age and eat at materials.

I bought a 100% cotton tank from Old Navy, and it was way too big. I should have realized it, but now I'm stuck with it. If only I could shrink it, I could wear it! Thanks for the help!

It's cotton! Of course it'll shrink! Wash it in hot water and put it in the dryer. Do it a couple times untill it's small enough.
Or, before you wash it, you can just return it.

Wash it normal-yes. If you do not use the requ. temp. water you can really bleed the color out of the tank. The heat from the dryer is the factor for shrinkage. The highest temp. for about an hour, don't do it too long or too much, you could melt the elastic or decorations.
