it's a chemistry experiment. I have one cup half full of water and one empty. That and a cotton piece of string is all the materials I have. How do i transfer them?
not sure but put the string one end in one of the cups the other end in the other cup the string should soak up the water and it should drip into the other cup sorry if this doesnt work its a guess

I think you would be fine with any natural twine or wood. The crystals might have trouble forming on a slick plastic.

all the rock candy recipes i can find say use a piece of string....i don't have any string......can i use something like a straw, or a stick maybe?
you could use a bamboo skewer like for kabobs or toothpicks or anything else you wanted. The thing is to provide something for the sugar to crystalyze on.
I have purchased rock candy on sticks similar to the kabob skewers. Have to be very careful eating it tho so you don't get splinters in your tongue. (giggle giggle and a huge grin!)
