Cotton Spandex

Well Basically I've been planning to bleach a brown dress white, it's made out of semi-stretchy material which is of cotton/spandex, so will it bleach badly? it's like 40% spandex or something.

You can not bleach a dark color. It does not actually turn it white. Bleach has trouble enough getting dingy whites to be white. It will just ruin the dress. It will have an uneven and multicolored look. It will at best turn it a funny brown-yellow color.

Cotton Spandex Jersey Strapless Ruched bodysuit; multiple uses, all of them cute!

I'm thinking of buying a garment steamer (the Jiffy J-2000, to be precise). I'm sick of ironing and my style is such that most of my clothes require it.

Most of the clothes I would like to use the steamer on are skirts and dresses that are either cotton or a cotton/spandex blend. Will the steamer work well on these fabrics? Also have a few rayon and polyester dresses I'd like to steam... will it work well on these? Are there any fabrics that the steamer will not work as well on?

And I already know not to expect perfect, crisp results from the steamer as I would get from ironing. :)

Steamers are great as long as you use distilled water and a pinch of salt. For stretchie fabrics just hold the steamer a little further away from the material as you don't want it getting too hot and melting the stretch in it. Happy steaming.

I am entirely new to dying clothes.

I would love to dye this 96% cotton 4% spandex jumpsuit to be bright yellow for a Halloween costume. But after Halloween, I want to be able to dye it Navy or if possible, get it's original beige color back.

Any advice on the first yellow dye, and then tips on getting Navy Blue on the second dye?

You may not be happy with the results using either color. Natural fibers (i.e. cotton) take and hold dye well, but the synthetic fibers (spandex, nylon, polyester) won't. What usually happens when you dye garments that have synthetic fiber content is that the dye does not adhere evenly so you get blotchy results.

Which one stretches the least?
Which one overall is the best?
Does more spandex mean more tighter?

How about you just try the pants on and judge for yourself which one is the most comfortable, looks the best, and you like.

I just bought some shorts for summer and am a little concerned they will stretch out during wear. This is a problem with bottoms for me. But if I buy a smaller size, they are usually too tight to even attempt to wear. How much will a 97% cotton, 3% spandex blend stretch out? I'm hoping not much because I like them as it but I need to know before I take the tags off. Thank you!

try wearing them around the house for a while (with the tags on) to see if they stretch out.
