Sahaja my beautiful smart little cousin explaining to me about the cotton plant
This is for personel use and not as a business. I love the look of cotton plants and would like to utlize them. I have learned to make dish clothes from cotton thread, so therefore would like to spin cotton.
After harvesting the cotton boles are de seeded (seeds are edible), the resulting fiber mass is combed then using a spindle it is spun into thread. Here is a link:

When harvesting this valuable plant, is anything done with the seeds?
Actually, quite a lot. Cottonseeds are somehow (genetically?) modified to make cottonseed oil which is a common ingredient in fried foods.
My understanding is that cotton seeds are actually undigestible by humans. Something about the seed is toxic. However, food scientists are presently investigating ways to make cottonseeds digestible by humans and then use them as a food source for underprivileged nations. (The roadblock to this is many underprivileged nations do not allow genetically modified foods and the process of manipulating the cottonseed to make it edible is genetic modification.)
There's an interesting article about this, cited below.
In dryland cotton plants depend on subsoil water and develop considerable length of taproot.
