Cotton Plaid Fabric

I just brought a band new commercial grade Singer sewing machine and the thread (threaded properly_ keeps breaking and all I'm doing is a small straight stitch on a plaid cotton fabric.)

Please help.

On most sewing machines the needle has a flat side that goes to the right, and you thread this needle from left to right. If your "commercial grade" Singer takes a round shank needle (no flat spot) then check that the cut-out portion just above the eye (called the scarf) faces to the right. If this doesn't solve your problem, send additional information and I will try to help you.

I've already checked locally, and nothing. Searching online usually comes down to cottons and other light weights. So, I'm at a loss.

PS: um.... and I'm pretty sure the fabric store was a given when I already said I "checked locally".

AND how long have you had it? Is there an interesting history with it?

My favorite is from my freshman year in High School. It is a thin soft cotton. Red, Plaid. I was at my friends house and we traded shirts. I still wear it in the summer, very light and cool.

It's a gray Hanes pocket t-shirt made of cotton. Love the shirt. Borrowed it from my dad and never returned it after spilling beer on my other shirt. Only had it 2 years but wear it 3-4 times a week after changing out of my work clothes. It's necessary on my days off for me to feel relaxed.

Color
Pattern - Plaid, solid, striped, etc.
Fabric- Silk, cotton, mesh, etc.

well, my boyfriend has a cute little butt (which i'm sure he's thrilled about me talking about online right now) but so i'd love to see a:
