Is anyone familiar with the Cotton Patch Gospels?
"The Cotton Pickers"

Did you feel that they aided in your reading experience or distract you because you know the stories in another format?
Carl, its either the cabbage patch kids or the sour patch kids youre referencing lol one you play with the other you eat. The eatin kind are mighty yummy :-)

The Cotton Patch are the 4 gospels but written in a Southern Colloquial translation. They are pretty cool actually.

Who wrote em the cotton patch kids. J/K i dont know hadnt heard about em.

Well I havent heard of em but I tend to stay with just the four gospels as they are in the Bible. I read out of the New american standard. Its hard to judge these days on why people add to or take away from Gods word or try to interpret it into their own meaning so I would be a little skeptical of reading them. But also Spurgeon said "How can you stand for the truth if you havent studied and learned both sides of the controversy" So I guess its good to read all views in life on religion even if its heresy( im not saying the cotton Patch gospels are) to have a well regulated mind of whats out there. But I wont be reading the book of mormon that forsure. God bless. Sorry I couldnt help.

What are some good Christian musicals?
(Untitled)

I already know of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Godspell, Children of Eden, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Cotton Patch Gospel. Are there any other musicals anyone knows about?

The ones you listed are the only ones I can think of, sorry. "Children of Eden" is fantastic, though! It's a personal favorite.

First you need to like bluegrass music. The musicians were very good. Second, to appreciate the presentation you need to be reasonably familiar with Christian scriptures and specifically the mind set of Jesus and understand the political climate of that day. With that background and a great sense of humor, you would have loved Cotton Patch GOSPEL. Ed Hightower's did a great job. If I had been given the words to the songs I would have done a 'sing-a-long.' My guest and I could not keep from tapping our feet to the music. We talked about returning next weekend with some friends.
