will tumble drying a dry, cotton shirt shrink it?
Rose Patch quilt top

I have a very specific style of button down shirts that I like to wear, which cannot be too long, nor too short. Therefore, I need to wash them only, then proceed to hang them up. However, they become very wrinkled, and therefore I need to either iron them, or tumble dry them. Question is, will tumble drying a dry button down, cotton oxford shirt shrink the shirt at all? Keep in mind the shirts are completely dry, obviously if they were wet they would surely shrink. Thanks.

No, a little heat may even diminish some of the wrinkles. Do u wash in cold water? That also will prevent so many wrinkles. The only other choice I see is the cleaners or iron. Good luck.

Similar oxford shirt to Ralph Lauren Yarmouth ?
1940s blue

I've bought Ralph Lauren Yarmouth cotton oxford shirts for years and really like them. Seems that they are discontinued or very limited in availability in colors, patterns, etc.

Can anyone recommend a similar shirt in a similar weight fabric available in colors, patterns, etc ? The fabric weight is what I have not found in an equivalent quality shirt.

Umm... Ralph Lauren is an great brand that can rarely be replaced by another fabric. Can't really think of other than POLO

Can I starch my 98% cotton 2% spandex oxford shirt?
why fairtrade cotton is good

Will it make it hard or will it melt the spandex?

It should be like starching a 100% cotton shirt. You'll want to use the appropriate temp on the iron, though. It is cooler for the mixed shirt than it is for pure cotton.

Oxford pillow cases have a wider "hem" around the outside, usually a couple of inches, where as plain pillow cases don't. If you look at the black pillow case on the left, that is the Oxford one.

What the BEST stain remover for clothes?
talk about fairtrade cotton

What is the toughest stain remover for clothes? I have a stain that just WON'T come out of my cotton oxford! I don't even know what it is! It's been there for almost a year! Wash after wash after wash and it's still there!

Dawn dish-washing detergent. I kid you not, try it, I was amazed.

  • youyoushop — Aertex Oxford fabric Shirt

    Love it!

In the late 19th century Lewis Haslam, a Lancashire mill owner and politician, began experimenting with aeration; trapping air within the warp and weft of fabric. The result was a cellular cotton fabric that provided a barrier between the warmth of the skin and the chill of the atmosphere and in 1888 the Aertex Company was formed. Aertex continued to influence the sportswear scene into the 1980's with manufacturers like Adidas utilizing the properties of the cellular cotton fabric. George Best was seen to wear such a shirt when he played for the San Jose Earthquakes in 1981. Throughout the 80's and 90's Aertex faced fierce competition from other 'performance' fabrics but still contiued to feature where breathable fabric matters most - in garment linings and, of course, underwear.
