Keeping a cotton mop-head fresh?

I work for a shop that uses a cotton mop-head to clean the floors every day. We use a floor cleaning solution, etc etc. I was wondering if there were any tips of tricks for keeping the mop-head itself fresher, longer. Anything I can spray it with? We rotate it regularly, but it still gets nasty pretty fast... Thanks!


MAKE SURE TO HANG IT OUT TO DRY EVERYDAY. I WORKED IN A BAR IN COLLEGE AND WE MOPPED WITH BLEACH, IT ALWAYS KEPT THE MOP CLEAN AS WELL.

What kind of mop is best for stair cleaning?

Currently we use an ordinary mop with long cotton strands, quite low cost. Would like to get faster, would a flat sponge mop work better? Or a flat cotton mop? Bearing in mind there are 20 stairways so need something quite durable. Speed, effectiveness, and duarability are important. The surfaces are hard like marble.

Any ideas on how to speed up?

Can I use a regular mophead made of white cotton to breed my goldfish?

I'm trying to breed Goldfish and I don't think they're breeding. Right now I have 2 white cotton mop-heads in the water with them but I have no idea when I should check to see if they're eggs on them. Any ideas?


Unless they've been kept in cooler temp. over winter it's very unlikely they'll breed in an aquarium.

That's the first time I've heard of putting a mop head in a tank....I pissed myself when I read that.

well, is white okay, will it work?


It sure is. Just make sure the dyes are permanent (soak it in water before adding it to the tank), or simply don't get dyed yarn.

EDIT: Darker yarn is best (black, green, brown) as the fish will be more drawn to it, but white might work...
