I just bought my kids brand new, organic cotton/latex/wool mattresses, but have a big problem.
My son has diabetes and when his blood-sugar is high, he wets the bed. But he WETS the bed. Meaning - a big puddle. Are the natural wool or cotton mattress pads going to work for him?

i would think it would soak thru. i know they are not organic but i worked in a nursing home and used what are called chucks under our residents. they aren't organic but a lot better than plastic. i would think you could find them at any medical supply store.

i am not so sure that any cotton regardless of density will protect against dust mites but there are plastic covers for mattresses which completely encase the mattress and i think that might be what you need. but don't forget the pillow. that is where your head lays for hopefully eight hours. i purchased both mattress cover and pillow covers at walmart. also there is a febreze product that helps with dust mites.

My mother bought the mattress which is supposed to mould to one's shape, and has tried cotton mattress cover and sheets, but still finds it too hot - any sensible ideas would be appreciated - thanks!

The trouble with these things is the material they are made of - which is something the makers don't tell you!

Because they are made of synthetic material - your body heat transfers into the synthetics thus making the mattress as warm as you are - in theory you have two body heats in one location!

Not all they are cracked up to be - and there is no easy answer to cooling down on them! No covers or very light covers over you!

I've seen some that are vinyl (cheapest), polypropylene, and cotton (most expensive). But I've also read that cotton doesn't work 100% against dust mite feces (which is actually what most people are allergic to).

Anyone have any insight?

AllergyEnd plus, is a 100% cotton dust mite protective bedding, but is an Australian company. I have also included a few other links that give information etc about protective bedding.
