I like the "Goody" brand headbands at the grocery store. (Maybe they're called wraps- they're a couple inches wide, stretchy cotton material).
I like the ones at the store, but they don't have a good color selection. Does anyone know what type of fabric I should buy to replicate these?
cotton spandax

My daughter has an apron with plastic on the front and cotton material lining (for toddler arts and crafts). The material has some black mould spots and I wonder if it is possible to remove these. I'm thinking probably not but I hope someone may have some ideas. Thanks for the help.
I'd apply a drop of bleach to each spot, let it sit in the sink by it'self for a minute, then rinse it well in hot water. If that doesn't get rid of it, it is permanent.
Can you recommend stores which sell good quality cotton material, that are reasonably priced ?

I have decorative cotton and plain flannel material that I want to make rod pocket curtains out of but I fear I am just wasting time - the whole purpose is to make the room warmer in the winter will this work?
Should I use numerous layers or will one layer of each work just as well?
(The flannel will be closest to the window, the inside. Cotton side will be facing out to match colors and theme in room.)
sounds good, one layer of each would be good, another layer would be better, in my opinion, but I live in Indiana and it gets cold here. I have used a velvet fabric for my living room drapes. I have plants so I have to leave one of the windows draped open so they can get some light but thankfully I face south and the sun should have a warming effect. I think that you will have success, you sound like you know your way around a sewing machine. Great question, love hearing about people creating things with their hands.
I'm having a costume made and the person asked me if I needed
normal textile cotton or knitting material cotton. And I don't really know the difference, but I don't want to say the wrong one...
So can someone tell me the difference and possibly some examples?
Thanks so much. (^_^)
Normal cotton is woven and not really all that stretchy -- unless it has some lycra in it. Some examples would be denium, linen, dress shirt material
Knitted cotton is like t-shirt material. It is stretchy. . .
