Dyed / bleached Cotton warp and cotton lycra weft fabric show bursting of lycra fils at several places. Fabric Plain woven 50s x 50s on Airjet / Projectile looms. Does lycra break at all in processing. The grey fabric is OK. The broken edges appear severed with sharp instrumets.Can anybody enlighten me on why this happens and what to do to avoid this.

One possibility. Look at the fabric in the greige state under a good microscope. Look for needle like cuts resulting from the process. They will not be enough to cut the yarn, but will be more like a paper cut. After all that processing, the cuts are stretched, wetted, and pulled, so they eventually start breaking. This results from incorrect machine setting on the loom.

It has been often noticed that in knitted fabrics, cotton-lycra fabrics often end up with streak marks on the face of the fabric & sometimes dicoloring of fabric is also there.
i want somebody to explain the different precautions that shall be taken while knitting/processing/storage of fabric so we can avoid crease lines, streak marks & discoloring in the fabrics.
also tell what yarn counts are suitable with what count of lycra.
what shall be heat given to fabric & what all are the precautions needed. plz answer

This is a question about fabrics, to find out the reason behind such a jump in GSM that sometimes occurs. Just wanted to get some information about this, and is there a way to actually prevent this moisture on fabrics to control the GSM?
