I am considering cotton-ease but I am getting mixed reviews on the lion brand product. Please help! Yarn is exspencive and I can't afford to spend money on stuff that won't work.
I'm making a sweater. I like the feel of cotton much better then wool. I love how TLC Cotton Plus knits and cares, but I'm looking for a charcole color.
I worked at a knitting store for a year and a half, and the best cotton yarn by far is Blue Sky Alpacas brand organic or dyed cotton. I use it for everything. It is so soft, comes in a lot of colors, and is worsted weight. It's even machine wash and dryable. It comes in hanks of 150 yds and usually costs around $10 a hank. You can find it at some yarn shops, but you can go to the blue sky site for stores that carry it. Or you could get it online. The store I worked at has an online store and carries it all the time. It is called Unwind Yarn in Burbank, CA. I just moved to NC and there are no local stores that carry Blue Sky, which is my favorite brand. They also have great alpaca obviously. I will be continuing to order it from Unwind! Nothing else compares.

I just bought two skeins of this beautiful yarn, but i'm having trouble finding a suitable pattern for it (the wieght varies, aran at its thickest, fingering at its thinnest) i wanted to make maybe some sort of scarf or something, maybe something with a lot of yarnovers or drops for a ragged look, but i don't know.....has anyone knit anything with this before?

I just started learning how to knit, and picked up some of the Handicrafter Cotton yarn on sale, and am wondering what I can knit with it? I've made some bean bags for the kids, and don't really need more dishcloths.
Can I do a scarf, or is cotton not a good choice for that?
Yes, Handicrafter Cotton isn't especially good for clothing of any sort, other than perhaps some slippers, it's rather rough in the wearing. Curtains comes to mind, and the other suggestions you've gotten are good. Doubled you could make a rug with it, coffee mats, coasters, table runners.
I love to crochet and would like to buy my yarn in bulk.
There are many stores that sell in bulk, and they do mail order. One of the best was Curl Brothers in Ontario, but I think they were closing. You may be able to get some yarns, but not all that wanted. Check Webs, Annie's attic, Elann, knitpicks, etc.
can you make yarn (knitting) out of cotton balls? if so then how?
i have alot of cotton balls and i want to know if i can make yarn out of them? can you also tell me directions on how to do so? i cannot find anything on it on google!
Sigh, you don't need to card the cotton balls, but be aware these may not actually be cotton, but polyester these days. Cotton is a very short staple (fiber length) material, and it is best spun on a tahkli or support spindle rather than on a wheel or drop spindle, or on a charkha, which is a version of a spinning wheel from India that spins the fibers very rapidly. Spinning cotton takes a good bit of practice and a deft hand. You do need to fluff the balls by pulling on them a bit to open them up, but then it is a matter of catching the beginning fibers to form the initial yarn, adding a lot of twist to it as you draft it out and then more twist to add strength to the yarn before winding it on.
If you don't know how to spin, this is definitely not a good place to start.

I knitted this hat for Clara from 1 skein of Lion Brand Nature's Choice organic cotton yarn purchased at JoAnn with a 50% off black Friday coupon for just $3.25. Bargain! The hat was a quick and easy knit, and is the perfect weekend knitting project! I even had enough yarn leftover to crochet a small dishcloth. The pattern for the hat is below... and it's
Beautiful!! I wish I knew how to knit like that. I made my husband a scarf just before our son was born, but have never dared something round. Our little one can only wear cotton, because of eczema, and it's hard to find 100% cotton hats without fleece in them. Yours is adorable! We finally found one on sale tonight, but it has nothing on yours. :)
