I have a 100% cotton ysl jumper that is size large, its massive on me and I could do with it been taken down to medium size. How can I shrink by tonight?
very hot water shrinks 100% cotton but the cotton could be preshrunk also you never know how much shrinkage will occur sometimes it is barely noticeable and sometimes it distorts the garment so you can't even wear it. I think you need to have alterations made on it by a seamstress.

The tag on the jumper doesn't provide me any information cuz they replaced it with decoration. I believe its a normal cotton-made jumper, but I usually machine wash my clothes and not hand wash. the stain is the size of a 20cent piece, i have soaked it in sard, then washed it. when it is wet it doesnt look like it is there anymore, but when it dries its still there. Its like an oil stain, and where the stain is the material is darker than the rest of the top. please help me?
Make a paste of a liquid dish soap, such as Dawn, and baking soda. Apply the paste directly to the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes or so. Launder as usual.

What type of weave is the cotton? If it is broadcloth, corduroy or a jean type fabric, you can not get it back to it's original size. You may be able to rewash it and, while it is wet, pull on the ends of each seam and on the body of the garment. This would gain you a small amount of the size you lost. This is the same procedure you should use on knit fabric. The big difference is that it works better with knit fabric.

I went to buy a jumper the other day and all clubs have those polyester type of jumpers. I prefer the cotton jumpers from the old days. You can buy retro jumpers, which are great, but I want a cotton jumper with the new logos etc.
What do people prefer, old or new?
