I have a few sweaters, fleece, cotton and wool, that pilled. The worst is a yellow fleece one that I must have washed with a dark sweater b/c the pilling is dark! It looks horrible, how do i get it off?
You need a fabric shaver. Here are some examples:

It's tempting to get a big one, but in my experience, the small ones work better. You get best results if you hold your hand under the area you are shaving, and shave the fabric against the palm of your hand. This way the fabric stays smooth and you can press right up against the pills. You really can't hurt the fabric with one of these things, because the holes are too small to let it grab anything but the pills.
It takes a while, but it sure beats buying a new fleecie!

I want to make a shopping cart cover and need to know if sewing cotton to fleece (with a batting inbetween) would hold up well. I've made one using just fleece and it turned out great but I'd like to make a reversible cart cover and have fleece on one side for cold weather and cotton on the other for warmer weather. Would it be easy to sew the two fabrics together - would it hold up to washings? Thanks! I appreciate the help. Hope I placed this in the correct catagory.
It would hold up, just leave out the batting..and use a good short stitch length. I just made a bunch(27) of fleece winter scarves, with flannel on the other side.
Make sure you wash the cotton first before you add it to the fleece to make up for shrinkage. use a 1/4 inch seam allowance. you should have no problems...
Fleece should be think enough to make up for the batting.

Like the title suggests, is the inner material 50% cotton and 50% polyester, or is it pure cotton like the california fleece version?
This is for the american apparel brand of clothing, for clarification.
US labeling laws require all materials used to be noted, however, in the case of shoes for an example it is legal to say, "Sole materials synthetic rubber, uppers 100% man-made materials, or cowhide".
I would bet that the fleece is cotton/poly blend as well and that composition is more durable plus warmer anyhow I would believe. If there IS a difference it might be noted but unless a part of the hoody needs different care from the rest there is really no need to worry. Use the one that you like best.

I'd like to buy some sleep sacks (wearable blankets) for my baby girl (due soon) and am wondering whether I should go with fleece or cotton. We live in a humid and warm climate, but sleep in an air conditioned room. If she wears a footed long sleeve stretchie, wouldn't a fleece sleep sack be too hot? On the other hand, wouldn't cotton be too cooling and not cozy enough? Ourselves, we sleep in T-shirts and with a comforter, but I am not sure what I should do about the baby.
We live in Palm Springs, California so its pretty hot here all the time, but with my husband being an HVAC installer our house is always NICE and air conditioned :P
I tried the fleece but I found my bub got a little too warm and the cotton kept him perfect even in the A/C. I think it just has better breathability so it keeps him perfect temperature. Maybe in december when it gets into the high 50s at night the fleece might do ok, but as for now, I find its just a little too warm.
I have a new cotton outer/fleece inner hoodie with a chocolate stain from a choc top at the movies! I put it through a normal wash the day after, but its still there - what now?? its now 3 days old - whats the best trick to try?
As long as you did'nt put it in the dryer to set the stain then you can pre treat the stain again.and that should do it.

Shuffled Pink: Lapsaky Cotton-Fleece Romper
The website describes this as a winter romper, but even though it's not *that* cold where we live, this romper is not thick enough to be worn on its own. For people in truly cold climates, this might not be the best romper for your babies--unless you're the type of people who, say, like to frolic in semi-frozen bodies of water or have your babies nap outdoors in the winter , and probably think I'm a total wimp for classifying my current location as anything less than balmy. Nevertheless, in my wimpy opinion, I'd say the romper would be more suitable for fall/spring. So my first problem with the romper is: What's the point of the snuggly cotton fleece if you have to wear layers underneath it and...
