Depends if oxygen is present. If oxygen present, there will be a combustion reaction, and form CO2 and H2O
If no oxygen, the cotton might pyrolise. I don't know exactly what is formed but my guesses would be O2, CO, CO2, H2O, H2, CH4, C2H4, C2H6. These guesses are low-energy species based on the elements present in cellulose.
The fiber is the finest, tiniest strand that you see within the yarn itself. The fibers are treated and spun together to make up the yarn. The yarns are woven/knit together to make fabric.
If you liken the fiber question to human hair then one single strand of hair on your head would be considered a fiber. If the hair were braided the braid would be considered a yarn.
I have a shirt that is almost brand new (its been worn once) and I washed/dryed it and now its alot smaller than it was new. Its made out of cotton and polyester. I believe the blend is 60% cotton and 40% polyester. Which causes more shrinkage? Needless to say, I can't really wear it comfortably now. Thanks.
