I want to process my alpaca fiber into batts of wall insulation. I know it is naturally fire retardant and the only chemical I can think of that it needs is Borate to keep the moths out of it. My problem is where do I start with getting it to meet the codes here in California, USA? I know that before I can sell this as a viable home insulation that I need to have it pass various government tests and that is where I need help, how do I get this process started? Is their a book on doing this? I know that their is a company in (I believe southern Ca.) that takes ends of denim material and processes this cotton into home insulation but they also had to pass the governments tests to be allowed to sell it, how did they do it?
Thank You for helping me.
